It's not a moot point. Ask USC, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Auburn, etc.. if recruiting matters. You need top 10 or top 5 classes if you plan on competing with the nationally elite. Michigan is working on it's 2nd consecutive top 10 class. It doesn't guarantee Michigan wins but it sure as hell does give Michigan a chance to be elite. You can ignore that if you want but I won't.
Thanks for leaving out the Duffy and Biggie years, not much success in those years.
Whatever. Michigan is known for their great football tradition and program. For anyone to deny that is foolish. I do chuckle at the victories against high schools and such back in the day but that's the way football was played.
Like many of you, when I drive my car I usually look forward with an occasional glance backward for perspective. I like where MSU is going forward. Um seems to be on a good road too. Nothing Dantonio can do about 1923, 2012 is what he can work on
YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
Nah. High 3 stars. Playing like 4 or 5 stars means you get there.
The MSU guy was just randomly throwing out a year to start counting so i thought i would to.
I think Michigan historically has had top ten back to back classes before. 2007,2008 maybe or 2006&2007??? Don't know. How did that turn out?
It's still a random time frame to make the record look better for MSU. How don't you see that?
Like i said it doesn't guarantee anything but it gives them a chance to be elite.
Once again son, why don't we wait and see how good that class is out on the field? I just think the whole mentality of some of the new wolverine fans have changed. You would never hear that 20 years ago.
Na. I will continue to get excited about the chance at being elite. If that bothers you or other MSU fans then oh well.
Boise says hi.
Boise is not elite.
Meh, couldn't care less. I'm not here to tell you how to enjoy the program. If MSU had this great class many fans would be excited too. What I have noticed however is Michigan fan saying "scoreboard" less and "wait till" more. Maybe I'm wrong.
Tell their teams that. I wish those sob's would realize that. They don't and it bothers me.
I prefer talking about the upcoming season/seasons. When i say this I even mean when we do well. I prefer talking about the next coming basketball season and the last 2 years we are 3-1 against MSU with a share of a big ten title. I still would prefer talking about this coming year with Burke, Hardaway, McGary, Robinson, Stauskas.
I think the nation has told them that enough. They don't need to hear it from me too.
They still don't believe.
As far as Michigan basketball goes, better but I still don't think they're built for tournament. The end of the year kind of undressed his offense in an ugly way. He'll never win it all relying on his team going six in a row with that offense in the dance. Also will have depth problems. Regular seasons are cute and I think this was michigan's first in a quarter century. But nobody cares about that in basketball. It didn't impress Ohio in the BTT or Ohio in the NCAA
I don't know what your point is. MSU's Big Ten title in football didn't impress Bama for your bowl game.
That's fair enough. I still think Michigan is in the transition of getting better overall talent. I think the lack of success in the tourney has had more to do with the lack of overall talent than Coach B's offense.
I don't. I think you can't rely on that offense to carry you six in a row. You have to ask your people to be hot and on six times against real good teams. You need to be able to grind and lean. I think bline has to get to a 16 first. Then we can have a serious discussion. Last year was very good by Michigan standards, not by many others.
He got to the elite 8 with West VIrginia i believe. So Coach B has gotten there. I look at Michigan's 2 biggest wins last year, MSU and OSU, and neither game did Michigan shoot well from 3 point land. They grinded out those wins.
Funny coming from a program with no December Heismans
Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
"If you're worried about Wolverine fans, just move to Pasadena. You'll never have to deal with 'em."
So what are we talking about here? One pitsnoggled elite 8 at another school and two regular season victories last year?
You need to be a bit deeper in the tournament. You also won't get calls in the tournament. Also the victory against a struggling MSU team counts and is worth it but day day was wide open just a bad shot. Good victory. MSU needed to be better.
Yeah..not sure what the guy is getting at with this one.
1. The point about 2013 is that the average is going down when the class is filled.
2. As for recruiting rankings, of course they are only mostly right and not perfect. The point is that Dantonio is ngenerally ot getting the guys he wants if Michigan or any other power school offers.
