He got injured, are you gonna hold that against him?
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
Ohio rushed the field aginst us in 2008. Winning The Game means rushing the field no matter how bad the opponent is.
Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
Replacing a 3 year All American Center who won the best Center award will be replaced pretty easily by a guy that hasn't played Center since HS
Meh. Stonum has been gone for 2 years.
You're clueless. So a guy who never played a down for Michigan last year is going to hurt the depth more for Michigan, compared to MSU losing it's top 3 WRs ?
This is too funny, you can't make this stuff up.

MSU's pass D wasn't just the result of blitzing, otherwise MSU would have been a lot better in 2009 . Speaking of which, you should know that the inability to stop the pass was the #1 reason that MSU went 6-7 in 2009. State sold out on blitzes with Greg Jones because the DBs couldn't cover. If you look at the L's vs. CMU, Iowa and Minnesota, it was the pass D that screwed MSU, not Cousin's play at QB. Heck, you could probably chalk the CMU loss up to the coaches insisting on playing Nichol for an extended period of time. Vs. Iowa, KC threw the go ahead TD with around 1:30 left to go in the game. Stanzi drove the Hawkeyes to the 7 yardline and hit McNutt with a slant to win the game 15-13. Minnesota was just an embarrassment, allowing Adam freaking Weber to throw 5 TDs. I don't know how that was Cousin's fault.
In terms of on-field talent, Hyde and Rucker were pretty good in 2010 as SRs (2nd Team All Big 10). They were matched by a pair of sophs in '11. I'd say that's a solid job of replacing DBs.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Ah yes, because all of those players were on UM at some pt..
Confused how all of you are missing the pt that Stonum getting booted hurts the depth at WR for UM.
And while we're at it, we could really use Suh.
Sure it hurts, but Michigan didn't lose it's top 2 receivers from last year. It's not like Michigan loses production that it had last year from him. It's losing hypothetical production that you are consistently over-inflating.
Never said anything close to it will hurt more than MSU losing its top 3 WRs..
Obviously MSU losing its top 3 WR's will hurt
Simply pointing out that the Stonum loss hurts as well in terms of overall depth since he was eligible to play in 2012 (and most likely be a key contributor as the #2 or #3 WR) until Hoke booted him
Top 3. And #1 TE.
Teams replace guys all the time. Sometimes you see a downgrade sometimes you don't. We shall see.
you can say it's hypothetical, but I'm sure Hoke would love to have another experienced WR for this year instead of relying on underclassmen
Coming from the guy who thinks Maxwell will fill Cousins shoes easily this fall
Sure, but you can't use that as a reason that Michigan will take a step backwards as that is a commodity that Michigan didn't even have last year.
Because he wasn't here last year. There is no actual production being lost. It's all assumed production by you.
You have it all wrong MrWoodson, it is addition by subtraction for MSU this year.
Top 3 WR's- eh Fowler would have been #3 WR if he wasn't hurt.. Nichol didn't do much LY outside the Wisky catch
TE- ok- playing Sims who played LY
Best OL- eh, best? Also being replaced by a 2011 starter on the OL until he got hurt and was gone for the season"
It would have been nice to have had Fowler play last year and snag 25 balls for 415 yards and 4 TDs or something like that, because Nichol really didn't give State much. I don't think MSU's receivers = last year's production, but I don't think it'll be horrible.
TE: I'm more worried about blocking than I am pass-catching.
OL: If LG is a downgrade, but the other 4 positions on the OL upgrade, then I'd say the OL will be fine. If Treadwell plays well, then hey, the OL could be something special.
Sure, but if UM fans make those arguments then we are blind homers.
How long do you think Ferentz has left at Iowa? They've been pretty mediocre the past 2 seasons, and this year doesn't look a ton better. He's getting paid top $$ and there doesn't seem to be a ton of life in the program.
And... If a Michigan fan makes that statement, they are a delusional homer, or so we are told.
PS, Nichol made some great plays for MSU last year, catching the ball, and something being overlooked, blocking downfield.
I am one of the few who think Iowa is going to better this year than last year so that should tell you what i think.
Who said anything about easily?
I simply stated it would be assumed that Maxwell can do just as much as Cousins did in his FIRST year starting..
No one is expecting him to come in and chuck it around for 3200 yards and 25 TDs..
It's not assumed production..
He was on the team in 2010 and made contributions..
No production is being lost from 2011 1000%.. simply stating that losing Stonum hurt the depth at UM at WR
Hard to say.. if Iowa goes 8-4ish this year, does that make the fans happy?
Schedule sets up nicely for Iowa to start 5-0 and should win 7 games min this year with 9 a possibility
