Not only that, but to put it fully in context ... we traded Miles and Petino for Rich Rod and Amaker. It's like the worst Let's Make A Deal choice ever.
I know rich rod was a bad fit, but with a decent DC and at a school that is known to pull in athletes he could do well. His offense and Dantonio's defense would be fun.
Amaker just has a low Bball iq.
YOUR have been banned from reading and posting on the Michigan Wolverine board.
I did not like how RR recruited. It was so unbalanced and it wasn't funny. Resulting now in Michigan taking 5 OL the past 2 classes and a bunch of DL. Rich Rod didn't even touch those positions in recruiting when he was here.
11 National Titles | 42 Conference Titles | 3 Heisman Winners | 78 All-Americans | 37 College Hall of Fame Members
RR took undersized OL, undersized DL, undersized S and CB, undersized LB, undersized RB, zero WR and a whole bunch of slot receivers. Other than that, his recruiting was fine.

I mean he did recruit Jake Ryan ..
What you eat, don't make me shit.
I will give him that one. And Denard. But you can't come up with many. Except for a couple handfuls of guys, he was a recruiting disaster.
So who do y'all play this weekend?
BornToBeRed said: WPS, just a head's up. We might be the most family-friendly board on the network, so take it easy on your normal wps-ness.
The giants. We all play the giants brother. One thing we all are pulling for.
I don't know man....the more I think about it...
He recruited talented kids, he was just a shitty CEO who hired shitty leiutenants.
Michigan @ Nebraska
Michigan State @ Wisconsin
As I say that JV gives up an 0-2 Homerun
He signed three classes, which is roughly 75 kids. Signing 15-20 good ones out of 75 is not going to get you very far. And some of the best ones on paper were busts or transferred. He was a terrible recruiter.
Edit: FWIW he also missed on some kids that were near UM locks, like Jake Fisher (Oregon) and Anthony Zettel (PSU).
I'm the last guy who will defend anything RichRod did, trust me. He did, however, recruit the majority of the kids playing right now.
Had he not sucked as a head coach, and brought in a decent staff, he could have achieved something. Although, that's like me saying I'd be wealthy if I made $5Million a year.
He was also back stabbed by a man that should have let it go. He wasn't right for Michigan, nut he was treated very poorly and I personally lost respect for a coach I had a ton of respect for.
I hope Izzo doesn't do the same thing but I fear he will. Best thing that can happen is Izzo leaves gets a tv job and isn't on campus.
How you guys can dismiss what he did on offense by disregarding his recruits there as far as size etc baffles. Results are real. His offense with mattisons defense puts you top five. You won't be there next year we'll see about the year after. I can't believe he didn't see how fucked up his defense was.
Sorry guys I won't watch the tigers anymore on tv. I feel like this whole fall is on me. Never have I been this depressed. Nothing is working. Next fall HAS to be better.
RichRod forcing the 3-3-5 didn't let any good DC want to come here. Which is how we ended up with Greg Robinson. I just don't like Spread Read Option offense. I was excited when he was first hired as I thought, the Spread Read Option which was VERY popular during his hire, with the recruits that Michigan can pull in, we would be unstoppable. But then the recruiting really tapered off, hired crappy DC's.
RichRods ultimate doom was trying to keep his nose in the Defense. If we had been able to hire Mattison and just let him run the defense, who knows where we could be at right now. But that is all should of, could of, would of. I'm extremely happy with Brady Hoke and the direction this program is headed in.
Next year I can see us being a lot like MSU this year. Young Offense that will likely have a suspect OLine as alot of young players will be starting, and playing along with a first year starter QB. Young WRs and a good RB stable. With an elite defense. Our defense may very well be the best in the B1G next year. We lose Roh and Campbell, which, honestly won't be a big deal. Losing Roh will hurt some. Campbell? Not so much. I just hope the 2012 OLine recruits can step in and perform. Otherwise it will be a long year on offense like you guys.
The offense was good, but it was a very different type of offense with miniature sized players across the board. And it took 3 years just to get the "right" players in place. And TBH it really didn't work all that well against elite defenses (FWIW neither do Oregon's, WVU's, Baylor's, etc). And now that we want to go back to a true pro style/power rushing offense, we have to take another 3 years to replace the miniature players with full sized versions. And the entire time we were going through that we were watching Alabama, LSU, OSU, Stanford and Wisconsin just run over people. You can have the spread. I've lived it and it was hell. It's not RR's fault we went through that, it's Bill Martin's, but we owe RR nothing. He was paid very well and we even covered $2.5 million of his WVU buyout. I wish him well. I'm also extremely glad he's now coaching somewhere else.

One of the many off-season topics is, who would you take at each position between Michigan and MSU. So, with the season over halfway finished and smack dab in the middle of the B1G season, who do you have? For me I would go with,
QB: Robinson over Maxwell
RB: Bell over Toussaint
FB: Doesn't see much time this year, but Kerridge has been solid for Michigan.
WR: Gardner over ...
WR: Burbridge over Roundtree
Slot: Gallon over Fowler
TE: Sims over Williams/Funchess
LT: Lewan over France
LG: McDonald over Barnum
C: Mealer over ...
RG: Omaneh over ...
RT: Schofield over ...
For the defense,
SDE: Roh over Gholston
NT: Washington over ...
DT: Campbell or ARW
SDE: Rush or Beyer/Clark
SLB: Ryan over Allen
MLB: Bullough over Demens
WLB: Morgan over Norman
CB: Floyd or Adams
CB: Dennard over Taylor
FS: Gordon or Lewis
SS: Kovacs over ...
Nickel: Avery or
This is 2006 all over again. Tigers are chokers.
Roh should be replaced by Heitzman/Strobel/Wormley. The lost experience will hurt.
Campbell should be replaced by Pipkens. Campbell has been good, and I expect the same production out of Pipkens.
Demens should be replaced by Bolden. Slight drop-off in experience, but I think Bolden will be a good one.
Floyd will be replaced by Countess. I expect a healthy Countess to be an upgrade.
Kovacs should be Robinson. Huge loss in experience.
That week off obviously sets them back a bit.
Sandoval has to be roiding or corking the bat. Guy had 12 hr's all season and then has 6 in post season? I'm not buying it.
We'll see tonight. I'll not be watching.
BTW, I won't be going to the game Saturday. Unfortunately my father was sent to the Mayo Clinic by his doctors because, believe it or not, he has a blood "leak" somewhere. It's not alarming yet, but he actually needs a transfusion every 6 weeks or so. That, they say, might have something to do with his bladder cancer. Something Traverse City doctors can't deal with I guess I'm only saying this to you guys who have shared sports with your dads. It is cool as hell. I got a call from him in the fourth last night. No health problem talks just baseball. Call your dad during the game tonight.
