looks like it was incidental
Stealing Sparty's recruits and owning them on the field since 1898
Disagree at the 22 second mark clearly shows Zeller cocking his elbow and thrusting it into the groin area. Looked very painful.
It looks like he's just trying to get around Nix.
That was type of elbow you see in the WWE all the time.
It didn't look that bad.
So, it's a completely unsubstantiated rumor at this point, and likely false, but some guy said he heard Mariucci had lunch with Izzo, Dantonio, and Hollis.
That would be the steal of the century.
laconophilia is everywhere...
I don't think we could ask for a better hire.
Would. be. awesome.
This ball tap thing is getting really interesting, a lot of people are coming forth saying Zeller took one for the team by pulling in Nix's arm.
Latest NBA Mock Draft:
Nerlens Noel still at 4, interesting.
Zeller at 3
Oladipo at 9 (Pistons)
GR3 at 13
Burke at 14
Hardaway at 27
Deshaun Thomas at 32
Mbakwe at 33
Rodney Williams at 36
Brandon Paul at 56
No sign of Harris or Payne. Is 27 too low for Hardaway, or would he jump on that (serious question)?
Specializing in drafts with top players on the NBA horizon, player profiles, scouting reports, rankings and prospective international recruits.
Isn't your wrist limp when doing a nut slap? Nix's reaction immediately following the incident seals it for me. If Zeller had pulled his hand into his man parts, there would be moment of shock and then pulling his hand away from Zeller. Nix clearly covered his junk with right hand and hunched over protecting himself from a counter slap.
It isn't a big deal, this stuff happens, but Nix is the one who knew what was going down.
Too high for GR3 and Hardaway. Surprised that Payne and Dawson aren't on the list.
Wow. Grabbed his arm and pulled it. Is that considered "smart" or dirty? Now we know why the no call on that. I bet the refs saw that.
I'm not 100% sold that Zeller did it, but I think you are viewing Nix's reaction in way too narrow of a mindset. Remember, Zeller had just elbowed him there a couple plays before. It very well could be that something was going down but before Nix could even process it, he covered the part of his body that was currently the most vulnerable/sensitive, which was his groin due to it having just been elbowed.
Again, I'm not saying I believe it's one thing or the other, but I do not believe that Nix's reaction is definitive at all.
I would draft Oladipo over Zeller in a heart beat. I don't think Zeller is going to have a good career in the NBA but I can see Oladipo being a starter.
Payne is absolutely shocking to me. A 6'11" athletic freak who can consistently shoot 3's (at least college distance) and who has displayed solid post moves including an unblockable jump hook. Oh, and he's probably only tapped approximately 50% of his potential.
That sounds like an NBA lottery pick to me. But maybe the NBA is wary after players like Darko Milicic.
Dawson can't dribble or hit a jump shot.. he'll be back for another year..
Chad Ford has Harris #22 overall.. but I think he comes back for 1 more year as well.. same with Payne
Zeller would be good if he had a frame closer to that of Payne. He's too skinny. He needs to show he can do everything he currently does with about 35-40 pounds of muscle added on.
No way Dawson leaves after this year.
Robinson will come back for Michigan. But three will leave. Payne will go. He should too.
He's looked brilliant a few games, last night not so much. Unless he has a brilliant performance in the March tournament I think one more year would do him some good.
What was your take on Zellers elbow? Clear ball shot or just a player trying to navigate in the post?
I am not saying it couldn't be Zeller either.
The only thing saying Zeller is the fact his arm stays with Nix's arm. That is it to me.
Zeller's body language to me suggest he had no idea that his junk was about to tapped (not moving away or towards the on coming hand). His reaction is of shock, but that can be faked. Nix had reason to retaliate. Nix's body language immediately following the tap suggests to me that he knew.
Who really knows, and it wasn't the key part in deciding the game.
I missed it. Did you link it earlier?
Payne's too inconsistent. They have him as 2nd round in 2014 as of now. I think he could work his way into 1st round next year.
