There's only been one poster whining about the "bump" phenomenon. I believe it's commonly referred to as "Butt Hurt" (us older guys used to say red ass, but kids these days )

York was three days removed from being a top performer at two camps in a row.
4 star to Rivals and 247 per this article that came out the day he committed.
I'll help you out with some better examples: Dennis Finley, Damion Terry, Delton Williams. All of those got a 4 star bump after committing to MSU.
Multiple recruiting services report Birmingham Brother Rice junior pledges to Michigan State, becomes second commitment for 2013.
I'd like to break my foot off in some red ass people who insist on bumps and 3.7998765 star ratings. I honestly go just about nuts. Geeze Due, I hate being a fan. Much better playing or coaching. Don't quit.
Did they get better somehow?
Much of those bumps came much later though after they committed.. not directly or a short time after.. which is called the #MichiganBump
Cope = Bump Hurt

Any recruiting analyst worth their weight in dirt will tell you to look at what a recruit does, not what he says. It has proved true time and again (William Gholston, Se'Von Pittman, Drake Harris, Demetrious Cox, etc).
Anything is possible, but if Marshall doesn't commit to MSU I'll be floored.
laconophilia is everywhere...
Only matter of when.. not if..
WR Maurice Ways has committed to Michigan
Good for the kid.
Jandy, you can stop worrying for us over at Wolverine247.
RT @TennesseeBeat: Mike Vollmar named UT senior associate AD for football administration. Spent last 2 years at Michigan.
I was coaching at MSU once and I was in the room when Saban came in and started screaming at Vollmar because it was raining. It wouldn't be funny if it wasn't true. His job at the time seemed to be to follow Saban around with a phone and only interrupt him if it was an important call. All that and he told me he was down making arrangements for weight room equipment to be shipped for our bowl against Florida. Went to a restaurant watched tv and found out Saban had left. He was later reunited with him though.
Apparentlly, Cope now is a big believer in recruiting rankings (from the UM board):
Wasn't that hard to find.. I'll put Rivals here too just for comparison... Note- I hate Scout's ranking. This is just an exercise to show you the increase in MSU's classes wasn't simply because Rivals starting rating more 3*stars as you said previously. It's simply relative.
Average Star/recruit on Scout
Average Star/recruit on Rivals
In both cases, the recruiting at MSU has seen a pretty big uptick. Dantonio's last five classes per Scout have been his best- the exact same (just different order) can be said from Rivals.
So, no, I don't think the increase in MSU's overall rankings have to do with the extra recruits from Rivals being graded as 3stars as you said as a similar correlation exists on another recruiting service.
(what I also find interesting and confusing at the same time is MSU's 09 class- Rivals has average star/recruit 3.30, Scout has that same class at 2.74. Seems like a major different between the two services based on the same group of people. Yet another example of how the rankings can be flawed from one service to the next.)

Wasn't worried, just surprised that he didn't commit sooner. You guys can really be touchy.
Aren't there a lot more 3 stars on all of the services?
When players commit to UM, they are told not to do so unless and until they are absolutely certain. We don't take reservations in AA.
And the board is starting to become infested with homers.
It's all good.
Eh, it's pretty much only UMRSB and Brady 6. Other than them, our board is great imo.
You read my mind. Infestation was a bit much, but they are quite the vocal minority.
xx has that theory, but it hasn't been proven to my knowledge.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

There is with Rivals? You've seen it.
Has there been a study done proving this? If not, then it isn't true, Woody said so.
