My thoughts on those, best of luck to Poole in everything he hopes to accomplish.
Good to here about Countess, really looking forward to him playing again.
Hoping Toussaint can get to 100%. Michigan is stocked at RB though, Rawls, Hayes, Johnson, and then the three highly touted RB recruits coming in.
It is amazing that Ryan may get on the field this fall. Modern medicine is something else.
Glad to see that about Braden, hopefully he can play football to go with that gifted athlete tag. That is a mountain of a young man though.
I know it is hard for MSU fans to look at Gardner in a positive light, but the more I hear, the more I am impressed with him. There has been nothing but positive news with everything he does. Sounds like a natural leader.
That's a pretty valid point, though it's not as though coaches are working with equal resources. I don't get worked up if UM/tOSU "out recruit" MSU because those are a couple of the elite recruiting schools.
I compare MSU to Wisky, Nebraska and Iowa.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
There are barely any 2-stars on the roster. It's mostly "3-star" talent with somewhere between 16-24 4-stars depending on what service you're looking at.
And basically the same talent level scored 31 ppg in 2011. Did you know there wasn't a single 4-star starter on MSU's O in 2011? There were 5 on last year's O: Treadwell, Burkland, Maxwell, Burbridge and Sims.
I'm just saying . . .
Would you say that the current group has more potential than the 2011 crew? That's a serious question.
I think I put it in the Roundtable, but DG could be the best QB in the conference this fall. I put you guys 3rd or 4th because of the depth behind him. I think the kid's a heck of a talent.
Edwin Baker was a 4*. So was Caper.

And both got beat out by Bell
"2 star" reference = a bit of hyperbole by me for effect.
Current crew > 2011 crew? No. You guys seem to seriously underestimate Kirk Cousins. IMO he's the best QB you've had in my lifetime. And you had an entire corps of SR multi-year starters at WR/TE and some good RB. The only current offensive skill player I would take over any in the 2011 crew is Burbridge and he is just a SO and is still learning the system.

Upon further review, I see that you weren't saying that I am saying that recruiting is the end all be all. My bad, sorry.
I know we all agree recruiting is important, and we don't see eye to eye on rankings. I don't know if we ever will, Michigan and MSU are at opposite ends of the recruiting sprectrum and we defend the side we cheer for. I think big picture evidence supports the recruiting sites, snapshot supports those that don't agree with it.
but all these guys are rated higher!
What would you suggest? How would you go about figuring out which teams are currently getting the best players, across the country, being unbiased as possible to any program, up to the minute for today's society that wants info now?
We should create a website... that rates all the high school prospects in the country. we can even make it easier for everyone and give them stars!
IMO Miller's the only real question mark. And I don't mean to minimize that, but he's a RS SO who has been in the system three years. Also, he had an MSU offer so you know he's top shelf quality.

MSU OL offer probably means he's gonna suck. Sorry
Or get injured.
Of course. Why would RS Frosh OL have any question marks attached to them

Ok, both of those were funny.
Yeah he'll probably tear every ligament in his knee, and then shatter his femur on his way to the OR. #AMSUOLHG
Looking at the oline, that is a small B1G oline if France gets beat out by Clark. Starters would be,
LT: Clark, 6'3" 300
LG: Treadwell, 6'3" 304
C: Jackson, 6'3" 283
RG: Allen, 6'1" 297
RT: Fonoti, 6'4" 298
That would be and average of under 6'3" and 296.4
With France it is over 6'3" and 298.8
The biggest shock is how small the dline is. Both DEs are 250 or lighter. Only 2 DTS over 300lb. Smaller, quicker dlinemen is what Burton is used to coaching though, if I remember correctly.
The LBers would be small also if J. Jones beats out T. Jones, but I don't expect that to happen. I didn't realize how small Allen is.
There is some length coming in the back 4. All 4 starters could be 6' or taller next year.
Someone needs to tell Coach D this ain't midget football. No wonder the OL keep getting hurt.
Only 2 DTs over 300, but a pair of guys 290 and over as well. There were only 2 300 pounder on last year's DL as well.
Both DEs are in the 250ish range.
France is starting somewhere on the OL; if Clark beats him out at LT, France will take over at RG. Jack Allen hurts the OL height average at 6'1. Not too worried about him though.
Oddly enough, the 2-deep is Wisconsin-style huge.
LT: Conklin, 6'6 326
LG: Connor Kruse, 6'4 320
C: Kieler, 6'5 326
RG: Henry Conway, 6'6 322
RT: Skylar Burkland, 6'7 315
Average over 6'5 and over 320. Goes to show you that size isn't everything.

What was UM's OL average last year?
Idk. Lewan is 6'8" and Schofield is 6'7" but I don't remember the heights of the interior guys (Mealer/Omameh/Barnum).
Edit: just looked it up ...
Come on Lewan blew a once in a lifetime chance as a number one pick. He has no chance to be number one next year. I just hope the kid stays injury free.
Some people love the college experience.
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
He will be the #1 OL taken in the 2014 Draft.
