Did you forget about Russel Bellomy?
I think both fanbases have forgotten about him . Purdue wanted him bad.
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
Only my point wasn't to compare them. I was using some of the best QBs of all time to make the point that even the best have bad games.
Well, I have liked what I have seen in limited playing time. He has made bad decisions, as all young QBs do, but I like seeing him tuck it and run instead of forcing in a few times, and I loved his pass to Odoms to seal the win vs Illinois.
So now we are judging players based on their prestige in HS? I thought MSU didn't do that. Hmm, guess I was mistaking.
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
Only situation he gets meaningful playing time is if Gardner isn't granted his Medical RS.
I love the not a great QB thing. Based on what standards? NFL standards sure. But based on the college game i disagree. A running QB is a very viable offense at the college level.
I wouldn't go that far, he isn't the big name, but he has 2 years on Morris.
What? I was just saying that no one's mentioned Bellomy from either side in the discussion; it's been Shoelace/Gardner then Morris for UM. I'm saying that it's funny that we've all forgotten about him, because he was committed to another Big 10 school that's known for producing QBs (though Hope hasn't done a great job thus far) and he's a pro-style passer.
I would think the same thing but i was checking game stats earlier today and Michigan dominated the offensive glass against NW in the first game. It's a big reason Michigan won that game. Michigan actually got 14 offensive rebounds in that game.
I have tried to explain it to them before, they can't see it.
If that's what you were going for I misinterpreted. It's just that Purdue has a very negative annotation.
What cracks me up is Michael Vick is considered a great college QB and his career completion % for his 2 years at VT is 56% and he never put up the rushing numbers Denard has. Denard's career completion % is 59%.
Yep, but I think it will be a good battle between a RS Freshman (Morris) and RS Junior (Bellomy) in 2014, if Gardner doesnt get his Medical RS. (Not sure if I have the years right.)
You do, and that should be an interesting battle.
You have it right. I hope Morris RS, and Bellomy backups Gardner in 2013.
Purdue has recruited some good QBs in the past. Better than MSU. Or was your point that Bellomy can't be a good college QB because he was only a 3-star prospect? Wasn't Kirk Cousins something like a 2-star? Did he even have an offer outside the MAC other than from MSU?
Uhh, no? See my post above before you get all defensive. I think it's funny that everyone forgot about a QB who was committed to a program who turns out good QBs. That was NOT a knock on Bellomy in the least, it was laughing at all of us who forgot he was on UM's roster.
I think he will, unless he comes and blows everyone away. Will be hard to surpass a SR Devin Gardner and RS SO in Bellomy next year. If Gardner gets granted his Medical RS, which I think he will, he will be there in 2014 as well, and by that point I think Morris surpasses Bellomy and takes the starting job in 2015 as a RS SO.
The laughing face was after the "everyone forgot about him". I see how that could be confusing, because I put the sentence about Purdue after that. I meant the Purdue offer/commit as a compliment and an indication that the kid could actually be pretty decent. It's funny that no one (on either side) brought him up for awhile. It's not an insulting thing, just one of those "Whoops, we all whiffed there" things.
No one has forgotten about him. He was a true freshman this year and he sits on the depth chart behind Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner. Did you expect him to win the BTPOY? He hasn't even seen the field in a Spring Game yet.

Sarcasm? Gotta be sarcasm.
What do I win?
In the discussion about both squads depth charts at QB, the discussion about UM revolved around Shoelaces, Gardner and Morris. No one mentioned Bellomy till Hoff did. That's all I was saying when I said "both sides forgot about him."
