Don't really think he is measuring a QB by that. I think it was more just an interesting little tidbit.
So is judging a college QB by his NFL draft stock.
Cough, cough, NigelUno.
Fair enough, I'll admit I responded without reading all the more recent posts. 506 page mega-threads will do that to you.
True, though I'd put @ND, @Nebraska, @tOSU and MSU as "toss-ups". UM should be pretty solid favorites in all the rest. Going to be fun to watch UM take on Air Force (and not in a Ooooo, I think Air Force can upset UM kind of way, always like watching the service acadamies play ranked BCS conf. teams.)
Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
So, you haven't been happy for over a quarter century. Wow, smoke weed or something.
Out of those, at OSU should be the toughest. But I still see a 9 win season next year.
This is Michigan, fergodsakes.
I'd argue that @ND isn't too far behind. Those 4 games + Bama are significantly harder than your next toughest game (either Air Force at home or Iowa . . . which says a lot about Iowa next year )
Lose to Bama, split your toss-ups, win the rest = 9-3. Depending on who you lose to, play in the CCG.
Yeah sounds about right. And holy cow has Iowa fallen off of a cliff.
Come on DWags, it has been civil for the most part. No one is saying, "Rose Bowl or bust, it's been a bust for almost a quarter century for you."
It is telling that when Nigel, and D.Wags stop posting, the discussion get rational, and the trolling goes way down.
I have Michigan going 8-4. They can win every game on the schedule, but winning on the road is tough for any team.
Also, I love watching the service academies, they are a tough matchup for teams with their schemes. Playing smart assignment football is key.
Lose their leading WR, RB, LT, their OC, DC, 4 SR DL starters and their OL coach (the one area where they've been consistently good) moves to be their new DL coach after the DL coach went to Nebraska.
Doesn't look great for Iowa this next year.
Good test for UM. You guys are going to see 3 VERY different styles of O in your first 3 games.
I put @ND as a very hard game because UM gets very little rest between Bama and ND.
@tOSU could be very tough . . . or not so much. I don't know how fast tOSU can pick up Meyer's schemes, and though they're likely to be better at the end of the year than at the beginning, what if they're 6-5 with nothing to play for going into that game? I know they'll always be "up" for the game, but . . .
Do you know why Charlie Ward didn't get drafted? I mean...I thought I gave you some rhetorical questions that would tip you off...did you miss them? Do I need to play connect the dots with you?
And I hope they continue to burn for all eternity. Our one loss to them in 2010 is still hard to swallow. Almost as hard as the BTCCG considering that we didn't lose any other's beside the Iowa game. Just think...
MSU has ND before Michigan this year, right?
I see loses to Bama, @ND, @Neb, and @tOSU. Winning on the road is so difficult.
There is always something to play for in the game, you know that with MSU looking at Michigan.
Wasn't it because he wasn't going to get picked in the First round or something like that? I didn't really follow the Draft that much back in the day.
Except Charlie Ward isn't good evidence of that (for reasons which I thought were pretty clear). Other than that...you're doing GREAT!!!
Considering their bowl game will be Michigan I think they'll be up for it no matter what.
I think OSU will struggle out of the gate (haven't looked at their schedule to see when they play who) because it'll be tough to get Meyers schemes right away, but I think by the end of the year they'll get it. And the fact that they wont have a bowl game and will look to the game as a way to save/finish their season. I'm very scared for that game in Columbus. Definitely our second hardest game IMO.
I think 10-2 is what I'm going for. Lose to Bama and then lose one of our tough road games. 9-3 or 8-4 is definitely possible though, as I think our bye week could kill us. we have to play all of our big ten games without a break
Denard's a great athlete. Not a great QB. If you think otherwise, the floor is yours.
Start with how he's a great passing QB.
I thought Coach D liked to spread his practices out over a longer period. Looks similar to Michigan, 1 month of practice before the Spring Game.
You don't have to be a great passing QB to be a great college QB. Denard makes up for it with his athleticism.
