If you like watching Sergio choke then sure. It's all he does when he plays with Tiger.
If he wins this weekend, it will 4 wins in 7 tourneys this year and the TPC is almost as big as a major. He was also a terrible break from being right there at The Masters and finished 4th despite an inch or two costing him 3 or so strokes. So 5 top 5s in 7 events with 3 or 4 victories would be killing the tour. Keep laughing, because you're going to need it to mask your disappointment in him dominating.
This is a guy clearly doesn't know golf.
Teein' Off on Links
We have been hearing this for 3 years now. Tiger's back is the rallying call for Tiget apologists everytime he wins 2 or 3 tourneys. No-one denies the guy can still play but he is nowhere near as dominant as he was a decade ago(2000-2002; 2005-2008). The guy was so much better than the field during the 2000-2002 stretch and that will likely never be matched by anyone again, let alone by Tiger who is approaching 40 years of age and has the history of injuries that he has. His run from 2005-2008 was really good but the gap between Tiger and the field was much tighter as he was not winning by double digit strokes but rather by 1-2 strokes and sometimes in a playoff. I think he messed up leaving Butch and he might have the record now if he had stayed with Butch but who knows...the injuries obviously didn't help either.
I'm not saying he isn't good and he can't be competitive even for Majors but win one before we anoint him as back to dominating the tour. He's been competitive in Majors the last 3 years yet hasn't won any. He will likely breakthrough and win a couple more majors but he is simply just one of the many really good players on tour these days and not the guy way out front of the pack.
No one will do what he did in the early 2000s again for a long time, maybe ever. But, that doesn't mean he can't dominate the tour. Winning half of the tourneys is dominating, which he has done so far this year. He has a chance to get to 4 out of 7 this week which makes him more than just "one of the really good players on tour." He's clearly better than everyone right now, but his problem is his own standard he set over a decade ago. He's 37 now and not getting younger so its ridiculous for Tiger fans to think hell ever win majors by double digits and win 4 consecutive, but its not ridiculous to think he can dominate again which he is starting to do right now.
I don't keep up with some of the smaller tourney's so I don't know what some of the fields look like in those tourneys. He wins the bayhill every year so that's an annual tradition it seems like. The Players always has one of the top fields and he is playing well and could win but let's be real, the only thing people care about are winning Majors. Finishing in the top 5 is good but that's not what is insinuated when we hear Tiger is back. His fans think he is going to reel off multiple Major wins each year like his runs of the past. I'm simply saying, "I'll believe when I see it". I'm not falling for the hype this time around.
I do love Golf more when he is good though. Would love to see Rory regain his confidence and watch he and Tiger duel in a final round of a Major. Would be great drama and fun to watch.
He won the Cadallac WGC and he may just win The Masters if he misses that flagstick. Very unlucky break on a great shot. The World Golf Championships (WGC) and the TPC are all basically one tier down from majors. All of the world class golfers play in both, so they have the same field as a major. Winning one of those is significant. He has a chance to have 2 of those after this weekend.
think about how cruel golf is. the shot on 15 is almost perfect. instead of possible eagle and probable birdie he taks a 7-8 after penalties. he's in the mix on sunday and that doesnt bode well for the others.
I'm fairly certain he wins the green jacket if he misses that flag stick, hell his 2nd shot was damn good too. Everybody calling for him to withdraw really took the wind out of his final round.
And let's not all sit here and pretend we wouldn't kill a nun to take 4th at the masters, not like he shamed his ancestors with that finish.
Westwood swung and missed. Lulz
He was too far out of it on the final day of the Masters. Maybe he wins it if he doesn't hit the flag, maybe he doesn't. But he did hit the flag. That is golf. I am not going to give him credit for almost winning the Masters.
He is obviously very close to winning another major and I will be stunned if he doesn't get one this year.
He hit the tree on his swing. Lucky he didn't really hurt his wrist.
These greens are really starting to firm up. Course will play a lot tougher from here on out.
no question. There are some guys really struggling out there right now with the green conditions.
Bump. Final round underway. Tiger and Lingmerth in the lead at 12 under. Stenson just took a bad double and is back to 8 under.
Tiger birdies 4 and takes the lead.
I was right on the hill watching. Walked it in
