Cardinals Head Coach said he will be at FS
LSU fans I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
I think he starts day one at FS.
Best defensive playmaker in LSU history, and I'm not exaggerating. He's best when he can roam around and make plays, great move by the cards. Just look at the film and stats--what he did was amazing. He switched to FS one game on three days notice in '11 when Eric Reid went down with injury vs a top 3 Ark team and had two forced fumbles, lead the team in tackles and turned the game with a punt return TD.
He will change a game or two by himself each year and there's not a better characteristic for a defensive player. Between he minter and Peterson you've got some of the best LSU has put out in the last decade plus at their positions.
GET AT ME
One thing for sure...the Bidwills will not tolerate the character issues that have surrounded him in his life. I don't think he's a bad kid..just incredibly stupid. Difficult to make out what he was saying in his little speech, not the brightest crayon in the box.
Peterson and Fitz are great lockerroom guys - veterans, and I know Carson really tried with Chris Henry - his tragic death devastated Carson..hopefully they'll help him keep it together.
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
He's actually a really smart kid; last night he was caught up with the moment and emotional. He's also got that Nola accent
AZ fans will love him. Now who returns punts?
Peterson said a year ago that he will mentor TM7 and now they're on the same team
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
I'm praying for the brother! I hope he stays clean.
The brave don't live long but Cowards don't live at All!
Peterson without a doubt.
I don't know if I like TM7 at FS, just seems much more natural at a nickel corner, and play him like Charles Woodson.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
Don't spin the excuses...I have no problem making out Nola accents...kid is not even street smart
We'll see if AZ loves him or not...radical conservatives out there, and they're not going to tolerate his character deficits. Any other team on the west coast - maybe.
you will never convince me that is true, very good football player, dumb as rocks.
I think they will play him alot like the Steelers do with Polamalu. Roaming near the LOS most downs
FS is actually is best projectable position. He could play the nickel fine but that would take away from his best attribute which is roaming and making plays. Flying to the ball. LSU's scheme was perfect for his skillset because of the way we use the nickel. Not gonna be that way in AZ. FS is his best and most natural position imo and I think AZ has hit right on the head with their evaluation of him.
The kid is smart and has a good base around him but he makes idiotic, potentially life changing decisions. Many of us have done and still do the same. How many of you are willing to call yourselves dumb?
Maybe the better word is stupid...he can't help that, dumb decisions is what all of us make, and quickly make amends for, or fix.
Please stop with the the kid is smart BS..he's another dumb-as-rocks jock you manage to sneak in your program,,making the same incredibly stupid mistakes over and over is not "smart".
Even my LSU friends..and yes, I have five of them, agree with my opinion of the kid. Kudos to LSU for trying to work with the kid, and for cutting him lose, in spite of the talent. Now, he's a stupid kid, with loads of money. Hope he doesn't end up in a AZ arrest blotter, 'cause they won't care how good an athlete he is, he'll get his butt busted.

He is a very nice player, but he was never even the best DB on his team.
No joke, Pat Peterson and Claiborne are just 2 ridiculously good DB's.
But there's no doubt that Mathieu was the most important player on the entire team, not the best in coverage but not terrible either, plus, he played Nickel %75 of the time which people seem to forgot. The turnovers he caused was insane, dude broke records for Forced Fumbles.. Had about 15 in 2 years, not counting INTS.
In the read-option division that AZ is in, SF and Seattle, Mathieu will be fantastic as a Safety against that.. He KILLED spread teams throughout his career.
He wasn't the best CB on the team. He was the best DB and best player. Peterson was better at CB(severely overrated as a college CB because of his insane talent. He was never the CB Claiborne was nor even Milliner was in college. Great talent but not a top notch college CB but he has gotten significantly better as a pro) and Claiborne was a better CB but neither made the plays Mathieu did. Best football player in college football as a Sophomore. Not the best talent nor best cover guy but the best player. Much like Marquise Lee was the best player in college last year.
We'll just have to agree to disagree. The kid was not a bad student nor is he dumb. He makes dumb decisions and like I said, we all have made those and yet I doubt many of us are willing to call ourselves dumb. If smoking reefer makes a person dumb then there are many, many highly intelligent dumb people in the world.
LOL..I'm from California, a native..I'm aware that 99% (maybe slight exaggeration) of college kids smoke weed.
But, really...to get busted for it, over and over..given every chance by the university - which I think was fair and commendable, and still persist in smoking when you know damn well you're going to be tested?
Yeah, because smoking a scholarship and a top 10 draft pick is real smart.
Mathieu got yolked... He's obviously been training his arse off. Kid has a lot of heart and I think having Minter (Captain and leader in college) on the team and he looks up to PP7 and they're really tight... We'll see if he stays clean. Cards are drug testing him every week throughout the season.
I hope to God he will grab this chance...and hang on to it..he has all the talent in the world.
I'm a Cards fan, so I was pretty stunned and upset at first..getting over it now. Lots of good guys on that team to help him along.
Watch his highlights, then ask yourself how many DB's impacted games like him.. All his highlights are Fresh and Soph year so he has room to get better.
I've seen them...it has NEVER been about his abilities or talent...I just happen to place more importance of character...after all, our kids look up to these athletes.
Just my opinion, and mine only.
Well he'll have more "swag" and intensity than anyone.. He can get a D fired up with his playmaking.
Anyways, your thoughts are valid.

I know this: we played him twice his SO year and made him completely disappear both games. In the 9-6 upset, about the only play he made was the terrible "holding" call on Dre on the punt ret when he clubbed him from behind.
Trent truck-sticked him several times.
In the BCS game they tried to play coverage w him and he got lit up by Kevin Norwood, a receiver who will never be a pro. When they tried to mix up looks and bring him, he got vacuumed up by people who could protect.
He was a complete, utter non-factor in the game.
I have tremendous respect for LSU. My favorite team outside Tuscaloosa. But he was about the 4th best player on his defense that year but was effective in what LSU wanted to do w him. Personally, him playing FS is a joke to me.
I'm afraid Mathieu has some bad genes, and they'll plague him always. People give him a pass for weed bc ... it's "just weed." And they talk about him getting a 2nd chance, but most totally ignore the fact that, after being kicked off, he was arrested w Jordan Jefferson on drugs again. All the while wanting a 2nd chance.
The definition of insanity is trusting a no-character thug over and over and expecting different results.
For once, we agree. It sickened me that the country and media celebrated this kid w a Heisman campaign during a season in which he had a drug suspension, then went invisible in the two biggest games of the year.
Because there's no way you can get invited to the Downtown Athletic Club when you miss a quarter of the season for drugs. Right?
Yeah, trojan1, while kids were watching. My 9 yr old at the time asked why he couldn't pull for the Honey Badger anymore. I suppose I should thank the thug for providing that teachable moment.
