Third time ever. EVER. Franklin deserves a CotY award IMO.
He is a solid coach. His team improved greatly after the Florida game.
great team this year but didnt have to play : Texas A&M , Alabama , LSU or Miss St this year ..still amazing results . next year should be interesting as they will lose alot
Franklin is a great coach.
True, but MsState would curl up in the fetal and take a brutal raping from Vandy.
In some thread or other, preseason, I got in an argument of sorts about how great a coach I think Franklin is and that Vandy would beat AU (didn't know they'd suck THAT bad, so thought it would be a good win), and also that VAndy would win 8 games. Few people thought I was nuts. Franklin is a helluva coach that I can't believe didn't have money thrown at him this year. They are also gradually building some young talent that they never had before. They won't be going undefeated..ever..but they can become a pretty solid team. They have a lot to sell on the recruiting trail.
Lose a lot?
He is a great young coach. I think he really tries to build a "loyal" label by staying at Vandy 2-3 more years but then he'll be headed to a top 15 program. Vandy just can NOT get past what it did this year. 9-4 is their ceiling.
He'll average 7 wins over next 3 years which will be Impressive there but he'll know for sure he's going nowhere there.
He's gonna be the Pat Fitzgerald of the SEC if he stays at Vanderbilt. And I mean that as a great compliment.
I disagree. He's a great recruiter and with more success there that ceiling gets steadily higher.
If recruiting continues to improve, there's no reason why they can't be contenders in the SEC.
Vanderbilt is a very strenuous academic school. Like, 5 hours of homework to be knocked out Friday evening and Saturday morning before you can drink type strenuous. It and Stanford are similar, Stanford being better.
It's just hard. Tennessee won't stay beneath them either. Tennessee will beat them 3 out of 4 still going forward.
Needs to take the Stanford approach and put the hard sell on great academics and being in the SEC. James Franklin is one of my favorite coaches in football and I hope he can continue improving.
beg to differ ,on offense they lose starting QB , RB and three OL - Mathews starting WR ( JR) could go this year ; Def they lose 3 - 4 starting DL , starting MLB and 2-4 DB's . seems like alot to me anyway
I was shocked that Tennessee didn't really pursue him. I've been saying that he's one of the best coaches out there to take over a big time program since his first year at Vandy. You give him prime time athletes and it will be interesting to see what he can do.

He was a shitty OC and the players he recruited caused part of the trouble these past two years. I'm happy for his success but he's not perfect.
He wasnt open to leave for Tennessee. He is supposedly very mindful of what his perception resume is. Plus I think he knows he can outperform UT for 1-2 more years and he will get a huge offer.
Makes sense although I would say that UT is a pretty serious offer.
At Vandy, they don't rebuild, the just reload.
