I can't really get into why but multiple endings absolutely would not have worked. Not drastically different endings anyway.
Nah. Nothing drastic, but subtle stuff. At least showing that your in-game choices did affect your particular ending.
No different than BS2's endings. A changed Narrative here, a different shot there.
The 'meat' of the ending stays (cant screw with that).
For example, you are faced with choices (necklace, baseball at beginning).
Could still get the same message across, which I wont spoil for those that havent seen the ending.
Even then I really don't think it works. Constants And variables.
The necklace changed several times throughout the game. That is all I will say though because I am treading on thin ice. I don't want to spoil anything.
And Bioshock 2's story does not belong in the same sentence as the other two Bioshocks.

Do I have to play the first two to comprehend infinite?
Nope. It doesn't follow th storyline of the first two.
Well that's the point. No matter what choices you make, in the end, you still end up at the same place. Some choices make slight changes:
If you let Slate live he shows up in the prison. If you kill him, he doesn't.
But ultimately, none of that matters. That's really the whole point they're making. Which is kind of meta, actually, making a commentary on video games, which I thought was extra clever on their part.
Playing the first one will make Infinite's ending much better. Play it first.
In my opinion you absolutely have to play the first Bioshock. No need to play 2.
A new one
No, but playing/understanding BS1 is pretty critcal to understanding the ending, imo
This game sounds really good for a xbla title.
Last Friday I traveled to Seattle and entered the lab that has been hard at work making a zombie-survival simulator. Undead Labs has worked on the
Yes yes, the "we swim in different oceans blah blah blah", but to me, that's an excuse to be lazy.
You have an experience that center around alternative timelines based on choice, yet only one is presented in order to prove some "point"? Yes, you will always end up at the same point, but what about the journey? How did we get here?
The ends spoil the means for me. Changing up side storylines wouldnt interfere with the central themes, but would reinforce them. Our choices aren't made in a vacuum. They affect other people and their storylines, which are often a big part of ours. This makes up the journey. The ending doesn't matter, but "how you got there" does.
Unfortunately, we're only given one path.
I mean, do you think Elizabeth's view of Booker is relevant? I do. But obviously it's not. Otherwise, why bother to give the option to console/comfort her? To prove that "it doesnt matter in the end?". Well I say it does. Very much matters.
Little things like this would probably entice me to replay the game a couple times later on down the line.
I dunno. Maybe I'm jaded by the fact that I pulled 40 lbs of canned beans from desks in the middle of a town filled with starving children.
Or perhaps the creative team felt that they were re-hashing ideas from BS1 and 2 and didnt want to seem unoriginal. Either way, I get both sides of the argument, but I'd like to have seen my decisions to have weight.
