Been debating with a guy on my team's site about it; I say yes, he says no. We haven't agreed upon a definition of 'elite,' but my basis for saying that he is elite is the fact that I think he would have started at just about every school in the nation. He says he wasn't elite (admits he could be in the future, just "hasn't proven it yet") because he "didn't even make an All-SEC team." I've been trying to say that doesn't make him not elite, because the 3 OTs who did make All-SEC happened to all be All-Americans as well.
What do you think, was Cyrus Kouandjio 'elite' in 2012 or not?
I'm not trying to rile up support for my side, I'm just generally curious what others think.
Overshadowed by Fluker, Warmack and Barrett Jones. He's better pure talent wise than all of them.

So, he is elite, right?
this is one of those rabbit hole debates where elite can mean different things to different people
he's not the best tackle in the SEC West but he's still pretty damn good
We'll see this year. CK was just a sophmore and was coming off a knee injury. Matthews is damn good but Kouandjio has all the tools to be a #1 pick if it wasn't for JC.
This will be Matthews first year a LT. CK will be in his second year as a starting LT in the SEC.
CK is the most physically gifted OT in the SEC this year and his technique is as good as anyone else's.
Matthews will definitely be a very good/great LT but unless CK gets injured or has a mental collapse, CK will be the best LT in the SEC. I think the three best OT's in the SEC this year are CK, Tiny Richardson and Matthews.
He hasn't proven that he is elite yet, so you can't say that he is.
ah ok if you say it then it must be true
Bet your fiend that he is a top 10 NFL 2014 target. It's a given minus a catastrophic and/or late season injury.

Too bad Richardson is the only one that gets a crack at Clowney this year possibly unless USC makes the SEC conference championship game. I'm really looking forward to Richardson vs Clowney part two this year.
So is elite a top 10 draft pick in next years draft? If so, barring a CyKo injury, I'd be willing to make a bet if there are any takers???
Actually, yes he has... As ANY NFL scout.
Cyko's not elite? Barring injury he'll be a top 5-10 pick.
Best LT in the SEC this year. So yes, he is elite.
Sure you weren't.
I mean it's not like this board isn't SEC/Bama-centric.
Hard to tell. People told me Barret Jones was elite then I watched him get abused by a white former walk on DT on Nov 10th last year. We will see.
It really depends on how you define "elite." I think CK would have started somewhere on the OL for every team in the country, so I would say he was an elite OL in 2012. Now, was he an elite OT? I think it's fair to put the 4 OTs that were taken in the top 10 in the draft ahead of him. I also think it's fair to put Matthews and Lewan ahead of him. I don't know that you can put anyone else in the country ahead of him. By my estimation, that means he was probably about the seventh best OT in the nation. That means he was in the top 5% of OTs in America last year. I think it's fair to say that the top 5% are all elite.
Any one who thinks CK is a top 10 pick... Wrong, he isn't(Every one tune into the draft all right, based upon last year's tape he isn't a top 10 pick, barely a first rounder)...
Any one who thinks he is better than Matthews is very very wrong... he isn't. Matthew's tape blows CK out of the water.
Overall though I would say CK is borderline elite for a CFB player, but as an NFL draft prospect he isn't an elite guy. So depends what you are arguing he is elite as?
Barret Jones was never elite, C Warmack was...
This is so false...
Kiper has him as the 4th-ranked player in the draft.
And you're being objective?
