Same here. Evangelicals believe all Catholics will burn in hell, btw. Kind of sucks for my highly devout grandparents... But then again, they did waste like 90% of their lives devoting themselves to the wrong church like complete assholes. All that charity and devotion to Christ and now they're roasting on spits with apples in their mouths. SMH
That is an anti-homo interpretation, not a law.
And are the writings of Paul bullet proof? Dude never met Jesus, he thought women should only speak through men and tacitly approved of slavery.

I don't advocate tossing out any part of the Bible. These laws were made when man still had to sacrifice animals for their sins to be forgiven.
The Future Is Bright! Hotty Toddy
I'm an evangelical. I don't believe all Catholics will burn in hell, btw.
key word: all
Translation: No, not all will burn in hell... just most of them.

Jesus worked for the government? Several studies have shown that republicans are more generous with their money and time than are democrats. The give more to charity and are more likely to donate blood. Liberals are personally very selfish.
I want separation of church and state. This thread got ridiculous.
You're even a literalist with posts.
You know what I meant.
Wrong dude. I actually copied and pasted a piece of another post. Sorry for the confusion.
Never met the dude myself. I've seen his picture and on crucifixes and whatnot. Had lots of folks tell me I was going to hell. Or that I should go there right now. But the guy that actually wrote that says all I gotta do is repent my sins and I get to meet Jesus. No matter how many people I kill...if I repent I am still in better shape than someone who lives a good life and never kills or cheats or whatnot..but questions what is out there. Seems fair.
If you cant be honest....whats the point of being anything?
That's not what he said.
Well you're so back and forth between being a Christian and disliking christians its hard to understand what you're saying.
No, no, no, no, no. I'm pretty sure that's what he said.
I have not once gone back and forth. I don't know how much clearer I need to be. I don't dislike Christians. I dislike the stupidity and hypocrisy demonstrated by many people who call themselves Christians. Can you not see difference?
There was nothing ambiguous about my question. Let me just start with this... You said "That is old testament law. Jesus came and took care of all those rules."
I took that to mean that we are no longer expected to follow the laws in Leviticus. Is that correct?
And please know I'm not trying to trick or trap you. I'm honestly curious.
But would you agree that many Evangelicals would strongly disagree with you?
Catholics don't buy into Sola Scriptura. They believe the church is the final authority on spiritual matters not the Bible. They also loltz at the idea of being 'saved'. Not good, imo.
It just seems absolutely nonsensical. What kind of God is so self-centered and sensitive that my refusal to believe in him damns me to an eternity in hell, but a priest molesting children doesn't prevent them from getting into heaven?
The God that created this world and all living things in it? IMO, if God were a mortal like us, then you could make the argument about being self-centered.
As far as priests that molest children... they will be judged accordingly
It was a rhetorical question. Although, the point stands - if God is all-knowing, why can't he know that (hypothetically) I'm inherently a good person, and I've done nothing but good works with my life, and subsequently reward that? Isn't that the goal of all of his works - getting people to be good to each other and act morally?
Also, how will priests be judged? According to you, if they truly accept God and ask for forgiveness, they'll get into Heaven. How is that judgment? Hell, how is that fair?
I believe the older generation or old south style of thinking would disagree with me. Not most of the younger generation evangelicals.
how would seperation of church and state help? last time I checked history channel was a privately owned company. I'm not sure why athesiests even came in to chime in on religious beliefs for a tv show. Leave this thread to those that enjoy this.
I also don't think it will be much longer till people won't claim a denomination (catholic, Pentecostal, Baptist etc.). The "non-denominational" church is rapidly growing. Here in the south the older generation use denominational titles to discriminate against other denominations. We (younger generation) are using a different strategy. You can't reach a lost world while talking smack about other denominations or discriminating because they go to a different church. If we all have the same goal it shouldn't matter about a few different theological views. That's the way we are approaching things anyway. Also doing more contemporary music (Chris Tomlin, Matt Redmon, Steven Curtis Chapman). Has been received very well so far.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Why have I inherently sinned? Why am I being judged for something some woman allegedly did thousands of year ago? Doesn't that seem kind of silly? We're all starting with the deck stacked against us - wouldn't a truly loving God try to start all of his creation off in as good a position as possible?
Bitches be runnin wild
I admire your optimism. I think you have a looooong way to go before non-denominational will even make a dent though.
Regardless, I think you're going about it the right way.
The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one
