It's a texture thing. The waffle is a better holding device than a pancake - it's firmer. Plus it's got that nice crunch when you initially bite into it.
In the south, black people and white people like the same kinds of food. And generally, the black people are the ones that perfected it. Moving on...
I've never actually had chicken + waffles, but I have had other mixes that you Cali folks would probably cringe about that are widely accepted down here:
Fried Salmon Patties w/ Biscuits and Gravy.
Tomato on a biscuit (it's better than you thing, but not as widespread as other popular dishes)
Fried back fat with pancakes and lots of butter and syrup.
That's just a few. Don't get much of any of that anymore. Most of the people that prepared it died with heart disease a few years back. (j/k...sort of)
Oh, I also forgot crumbled cornbread in milk.
Another popular thing is cornbread in buttermilk, but I was gagging as I typed it.
Well they are both awesome so yeah
I like to dip my sausage in syrup, so fried chicken makes sense too I guess. But I've never been to roscoes. There ways seems to be a line there
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
The one in LB is an easy seat as long as you don't go on Sat night or Sun morning after church. I'm from OH, but my wife is from here and when her friends are around at the holidays that's our favorite meeting spot. It's at Broadway and Alamitos almost all the way to the beach. GO.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
It's on our brunch menu as Drunken Chicken and Waffles. We do wings with classic belgian waffles, but we drizzle the whole dish with syrup infused with maple rye whiskey. Shit is bangin'....
What about some rum butter?
Good idea, but gotta incorporate it the right way...
Correct. I literally lived down the street from the LB one...easily within walking stance. I lived at 1st & Gaviota.
I love downtown LB, such a great city. That Scoe's is the best because they always have a spot to put you unlike the LA locations.
I miss it a lot. Belmont Shore, 2nd St > Pine St. in my opinion.
USC uses Roscoes for recruiting purposes...it's a secret weapon.

That and the women. SoCal!!
Note to self: Don't attend a Trojan's tailgate (assuming they have such a thing).
I've never actually eaten it myself but a friend ordered it the other day. He got it with white gravy instead of syrup and it looked freaking amazing. I've got to get some of that. Maybe I should of just asked for a bite of his.

You So-Cal girls & your juicing.
Haha, right. Come on John..you know we love our tri tip, carne asada and bulgogi out west...we're big time carnivores out here...and not that sissy chicken stuff.....
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
I love it when women love the tip of the bulge.
Uh...what's so sissy about chicken enchiladas? Or that chicken and rice dish that you make?
How dare you!
Da fvck you say?
I can throw a rock from my place and hit and place that serves damn good chicken and waffles.
It's kinda delicious.
Alright, it's been 2 days since the OP. Have you gone to get some??
Salmon, eggs, and gravy is my favorite weird combination.
Sheeeeeeeeeit, I had some for breakfast this morning, just because I could.
