I think I have seen there is another fisherman on this board. You ever do the White Marlin Open? Tuna tournament didn't end up so hot this year, but hopefully the White Marlin Open will be different. Looking forward to it again. Only a month away. Just wanted to see if any other posters are planning on participating this year
For those that don't know, it's one of the biggest bill fish tournaments in the world. The winner last year got over $1.4 Million. Thats comparable to what the winners of the US Open or Masters. Weedline, you partaking as well?
You talking about the tourney out of Ocean City?
Dive for the thrill, shoot for the kill.
Yep. You in?

Nah I'm way south of there but I have a friend that used to fish it all the time from Ocean City. He lives down by me now.
You fishing in it?
We just had the Mississippi Billfish classic a couple weeks ago.. It's one of the highest paying tourney's in the country
Interesting. Yea I just googled the mississippi billfish classic and it had a total prize pool of $1.1 Million. Very impressive. White Marlin Open had a total prize pool of $2.3 Million last year. I hear when the prize pools get that big, they put you up to a lie detector test to make sure you followed the rules.
I am looking forward to it. We have never participated in the White Marlin Open, because we didn't want to put our small Grady White in it. The boat is better built for it. We've won a couple categories before, but nothing this big so it should be a good time. How did you end up doing in the Mississippi Billfish Classic?

I didn't fish it this year.. Weather was really nasty and I think it's a solid $10,000 entry fee now days
The lie detector test though is used for a lot of tournaments around here... a few of the rodeos use them if you place 1st, 2nd, or 3rd...
Unfortunately, we don't get that far up North. We are South of the Outer Banks on the Atlantic. But it should be a great tourney
