Have you guys beat out OSU or Michigan in recruiting in say the last 10 seasons?
Penn State just isn't a big time destination for elite recruits. Sure you'll get your random 5 stars in there every few years, but other than that constantly having to compete with the Big Ten elite is just not feasable.
I like him, but he did say Sark at UW was one of the top coaches in the country .
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
lame troll attempt
I now understand what PSU fans were talking about when they tried to explain ND arrogance.
One good season and they talk more ish than anybody.
Shut up fairy.
Don't need to "beat" them in recruiting as long as we beat them on the field. And I'm pretty sure we have beat them in recruiting anyway - 2005 was a fantastic recruiting year, and we've had several other good ones.
It's interesting that I even need to point out the recruiting disadvantage we have been at during the last 10 seasons. It's not like we've got a new head coach who actually recruits now or anything.

Has nothing to do with the season we just had, it's just simple logic. Not hating just using common sense.
Come on you can do better
Common, yes. Sensical, no.
What are your thoughts having to compete against the Buckeyes and Wolverines of the world? And even if you would somehow miraculously win the Big Ten and make it to the playoffs, well...just pop in the tape from the ND Alabama title game to give you a little glimpse as to what would happen. Not nearly enough depth to be able to hang with the big boys.
Solid argument. Is it that same rationale that makes you happy that Ohio U isn't in the B1G?
PSU fans are convinced that they will be the only team in the history of college football to be hit with such ridiculously hard sanctions and come out as if nothing happened. Must not get west coast media feeds in Happy Valley(see USC struggles).
Glad to see we're all in agreement that we're pretty much on Notre Dame's level.
if you'd like to believe that, you're more than welcome to. You guys need something to believe in. So I won't argue that one, I'll let you have it.
Your little barb kinda fails, given Ohio really, really didn't out-recruit us.
The loss happened, no doubt. Perfect storm for them and a credit to Solich. And yet, we still beat Wisconsin.
We beat you. That pretty much beats whatever you have in the deck regarding our losses.
Back on topic...I don't see anyone beating OSU in the regular season. They appear to be head and shoulders above the pack in terms of talent and depth this season. Possibly Northwestern, but I would be genuinely surprised to see it happen. They will not be regarded as a 'trap team' for much longer.
"PSU a 3 to 4 win team" - New-era, September 2012
PSU has probably out recruited UW almost every year. And yes PSU won last year. But yet there is only 1 schools name on the Joe Paterno......sorry, my bad, B1G championship trophy and its not PSU.
Yeah, that was really nice of the Big Ten to give you guys a chance to match our win total.
Actually, it was nice of PSU and OSU. B1G had nothing to do with it. Thanks again
Yes we did. Here is the most recent one (see link). That was with an 80+ year old head coach and a 70+ year old OC that didn't recruit.
You are being silly. We were on our way to a top 10 class last year before the sanctions. There is no reason why we will not be a top 15 recruiting school once the sanctions are over. PA has good talent, but we are also strong in NJ and MD/DC. We have just as much resources as OSU and Michigan and our facilities are on par as well.
Last year we had the #26th class, despite sanctions. This year, we are off to a nice start, despite sanctions. There is no logical reason to believe that we cannot be a top 15 recruiter moving forward.

I don't consider last year's ND team as a "big boy." I think they're an example of a lucky team that finally faced a team capable of exploiting their many weaknesses, mainly their overrated defense.
I'm ecstatic Ohio U isn't in the B1G, they leave us the pathetic Minnesotas, Illinois, and Wisconsins of the world to beat up on for easy wins before we have to face the "big boys."
USC sanctions <<<<<<<< than PSU sanctions.
They're not even in the same conversation of severity. Classic stupid Badger fan.
Hilarious. You can have your pathetic trophy as long as you keep your place in the cellars of the B1G.
We beat y'all last year with 67 scholarship players, before your coach bolted from your program for the mediocre Arkansas. Lulz.
Thanks for the insight about my 12-0 team with a freshman quarterback, oh and you should compare our strength of schedule. Now I'd like to hear you dissect your 4 losses, one of which was a MAC team I understand?
