...and therefore with the ACC.
IMO the most interesting match-up here is how 1st year (ever) DC Jeremy Pruitt's D will match up (handle?) Chad's 3rd year O with a returning QB who probably will be the pre-season ACC POTY. Pruitt will have his hands full.
Last week, when Miami started spring practices, I gave you three reasons the Canes would win the Coastal Division this season. Newsflash: They
No. They will be 10-2 just like last year, maybe 9-3.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
It's Clemson, even when they have their best teams they are so incomplete. This year's iteration can not rush the passer nor does it have any experience in the secondary. Clemson will be vulnerable to all passing attacks.
But but.. Chic fil a national championship.. Beat SEC/LSU.. New, dominate defense, etc.
Lol at citing holding LSU to 219 yards as proof that Venebles will improve the defense.
It's LSU for Christ sakes.
Losing Hopkin will hurt Clemson on offense.
Ellington was a big time running back too.
They also lose 3/4 of their starters in the SecOndary and their D-line
Is still inferior.
I guess they just have to beat FSU to win the conference and that is realistic given the changes at FSU and being played in Death Valley.
From a pitiful secondary. I've got it on good authority that this is nothing to worry about as Mac Alexander is allegedly coming in to fill all 3 spots and could be all-ACC at at least two if not all three.
In all seriousness, this is their year to do it. After this year, Sammy, tajh, and the chad all probably leave and their huge strength turns into who knows what.

Being in the ACC screws Clemson in recruiting. The lack of conference prestige cripples any attempt at signing a bad arse 22+ man class. Even when they sign 4 five star guys the bottom 10 in their class should be going to Furman.
Gamecocks really......really.....shouldn't talk much trash. You've done nothing with your advantage.
It's been an advantage for about 5 years now. Only since the national title streak. And before that it probably hurt us because winning in a conference full of established programs was hard to do with our shit coaches. Everyone knows winning is the best recruiting tool and coming into a division with UGA,UF, and tenn make that difficult. Clemson and FSU were the only schools for a long time that prioritized football, so some would argue being a football school in an conference to win in is a big advantage.
Also, this is a rivalry and I will talk trash any year we win and right now that's 4 straight so get off your high horse.
Yet you talk trash, and your team hasn't done anything in 20 years, so.......
We beat the ACC champ by 21...that count for anything? Just kidding, I know it doesn't.
I think Morris' O is a lot like Chip Kelly's was at Oregon: plug-and-play. It doesn't matter who's on the field, the O will be very good because of development.
The only unknown for Clemson in 2013 is the D. Venables has been very good in his career (he's 2-1 against Jimbo's O since 2010) but his success may depend more on player talent than Morris. I will be interesting to see the final 2013 D depth chart--I wouldn't be surprised if the secondary had 2+ underclassmen starting in the secondary.
Ugh, wut ?
FSU won a national title in 2000, which would be 13 years ago
FSU is head and shoulders more talented than Clemson right now, and Ellington and Hopkins are the guys who killed FSU last year, losing those 2 is huge for FSU
Watkins blows against good teams
I know they have some other WR's but FSU is nearly 5 or 6 deep with capable corners
Add in the bye week for FSU and if Jimbo loses this game it will look every bad to me

fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
I disagree a little here. While I think it will be good with other players, I don't think you can downplay Ellington, Watkins Hopkins, and Boyd. Those 4 are very very good, especially Boyd as I think he is easily what's making this system great right now. With solid protection his is very accurate and I don't think that production is just going to carryover when he's gone. I think the biggest key to string it is jamming receivers hard at the line. Hopkins didnt seem to mind it, but Watkins hasn't had a good game against us and supposedly it has to do with our CBs playing him physical. Disrupting the timing is huge and most teams want to play back off of Watkins because of his speed but IMO and I believe our coaches, that's not the way to play him. I'm interested to see how he does being the man again this year and if more teams decide to jam him.
I gave you plenty to work with, I was trying to get the thread going, and then you responded with this mud pie of a comeback? Sheesh, handicapped.
You didn't beat FSU by 21 last year.
This highlight is not 20 years old either...
Agreed, losing Hopkins and Ellington was huge
And they don't have Bellamy anymore so RB isn't very scary at all which is a first for them in almost 10 years
WR is still good but damn Hop was good, losing somebody like him always hurts
I agree here. I think clemson beats georgia, but this is finally the year the away team breaks through in the FSU/clemson game. Ellington and Hopkins especially are going to be big losses, because as I said Sammy, I think Sammy is going to get played differently/more physical this year and a team like FSU has the corners to do it effectively. That plus I see FSU again scoring as they please.
Agreed, especially on the Sammy part
I would just love for Boyd to float one over the middle so Karlos could steal Watkins manhood
But overall this is just a game FSU should be favored in and win, big wins is the next step for Jimbo and next years team should be capable of getting a few
Haha we haven't gotten a kill shot on him, but he does get frustrated at the constant jamming because I don't think many teams play him like that. Against us, he's had 4-37 and 4-39 with no TDs and we didnt have great corners this year. Last year we had Gilmore. I would like to see that decleater. It'd probably change his life haha. I know Swearinger would've been happy to deliver this year but Hopkins got all the passes.
I really don't understand Clemson's opponents sometimes. If you just play keep away and sit on the ball, the D isn't good enough to take it from you, the offense gets impatient and will go 3 and out in like 15 seconds, then you can just wear them down for the rest of the game.
We've done it in both matchups vs The Chad and both times their next opponent just said F that, lets try to play with them.
I know this won't seem sincere coming from a Clemson fan, but the majority of their fanbase would rather see a Clemson loss, and a Carolina win.
It's a really strange dynamic.
Not me, but when the only feasible losses on the schedule every year without a pipebomb going off on the sideline are us and FSU, it's somewhat understandable your rival's fans would pull so hard for losses.
Everybody tries to say this about their rival and its not true of the majority of any fanbase.
I don't think it's a huge stretch.. They have a really good/experienced QB returning while FSU will be starting a newbie.
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
Game isn't early
After 5 starts or so you aren't a newbie anymore
It will be the first big game for one of them though.. but thankfully it's at home. (I think) Like I said, it's plausible. Not saying it happens.
