Did they not keep stats for these games played before that year? Would it be that hard to add them in?
Not that it is likely to happen any time soon, but it would be pretty stupid for someone to break Barry Sanders' season rushing records that he set in 11 games, by playing 13 or 14 games.
As a point of reference for just how nuts that is:
Bama as a team rushed for 3,171 yards and 37 TDs as a team in 14 games last year.
Sanders ran for 2,850 yards and 42 TDs in 12 games in 1988 when you add in his Holiday Bowl numbers.
Derrick Thomas had 27 sacks his senior year. That's more than anyone in their entire career and he doesn't get credit in the record books. It is what it is.
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
Yeah it's ridiculous. Don't need records books to know that Barry was GOAT.
FSU Ambassador to the masses
88 tackles, 27 sacks, 39 TFL, 2 blocked kicks, 2 FF
in the 11 game regular season alone.
Plus, bowl game numbers against a triple option team that only attempted 6 passes.....he only added 2 more blocked kicks and 2 more TFL.
GOAT Defensive player.
10 Major Poll National Titles (CFB record)
35 Bowl Wins (CFB record)
72 Wins over last 6 years (CFB record)
Ted Bruschi and Thomas both had 52 career college sacks.... But neither is officially recognized.
There are also several others with more than 27 sacks for their career including Terrell Suggs with 44 in 3 seasons at Arizona St.
In the early 2000s, there was one player that no Pac-10 quarterback wanted to see lined up across the line of scrimmage: Terrell Suggs. In just three years at Arizona State, the defensive end registered an incredible 44 quarterback takedowns, setting the NCAA career sack record in the process.
You get out of it what you put into it!
I should have said "more than most". DT had the greatest season rushing the passer in history. When teams didn't throw the ball as much.Disagree?

I know Thomas was unreal as well..
I just really want to know why they wouldn't/won't retroactively add the bowl games in. Seems stupid.
If they did a lot of records would not be broken
They shouldn't count stats in post-season games. It's stupid.
I agree... I just don't know why they would count them now , but not retroactively when they have the stats available from those games.
I mean teams are already playing more games without the bowl game, it doesn't make sense.
