and he takes Johnson as the DC

That would be awesome. God let this happen.
I am an idiot sometimes but would that not be a pretty sick 1-2 tandem for Auburn?
I like Malzahn, but I want a disciplinarian. I want someone that won't be player's friends. That's what we need now.
Happy days are here again!!!!
That would be a mistake IMO. He will never coach with the top elite guys of the SEC each year. He's an 8-9 win type coach and it will take 2-3 more years after he gets fired to change systems. As a Bama fan I want it to happen, but as a college football fan I would wonder WTF.
Perfect fit for a historically 8-9 win program.
speaking of getting "friendly"
Thanks for the nightmare
I hate that we agree on a LOT of things about college football.
It would be a good hire but he would need to hire a different DC that would constantly rip his players a new butt hole. I have no problems with a player coach as long as the coach hires some people on his staff that are not player friendly coaches.
BVG isn't a real player friendly coach.
I heard Derek Dooley is available. He has SEC experience too.

This isn't really what I would call a wild guess -- he's probably who most people consider the most likely hire.
TURDS ALL UP IN THIS MUG. /// "2010 Auburn Tigers, my favorite team. Unbeaten in all ways." -- Dan Wetzel, April 4, 2013, 6:29 p.m.
Ironic GC is struggling considering I remember seeing stuff before the 2010 NCG where Auburn fans said "Oregon can have Chip we have Gene"
"Ironic" that Gene has a natty and Chip doesn't.
At least Chip wins conference games.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
They give him a BCS crystal ball for that yet?
Watch out for the Vols in the east.
Gene Chizik 1
Big Balls Kelly 0
Chip Kelly isn't going to get him a crystal ball either. Every single NFL insider that I hear from says that Kelly leaving for the NFL after this year is all but a foregone conclusion.
As far as Malzahn goes, I'm with Weedline. I'm not saying that he would be a shitty hire, and as a Bama fan would love to see it happen, but AU will spend the money to get a more high profile head coach. At least I would think that they could make a legitimate run at Peterson or Patterson.
Can some Auburn fans explain to me why he wouldn’t at least be a decent hire? He was the OC that won you a NC and at the very least had a hand in developing a Heisman trophy winner/ #1 pick. What big name hire are you guy’s expecting to get? David Shaw, Chris Petersen, Mike Gundy, Jimbo, and Gary Patterson are probably not leaving. Strong might be available (L’ville is going to be decent again next year he could hold out for a better job) and would be a good hire but you’re probably going to have to compete with UTk, and Arky for him. Do you guys want James Franklin?
Idk, I’m not an AU fan obviously but I think he would be decent hire for that program considering who else is probably available/interested.
He created the discipline probs at AU.
Has Kelly gone 0for in conference games in his career? I doubt it, that's a pretty tough accomplishment.
Has Kelly won a championship? No.
Haha he lost to Gene Chizik.... How do you lose to Eugene?
Good point, Geno is pretty pathetic. You win. How anybody could lose to that hack is beyond me.
Come on let's face it. He lost to Cam Newton and Nick Fairley. GC had nothing to do with it.
