Everybody else is playing for second place.
Huddles are for rookies.
Age has finally caught up with them and they still have huge contracts/years out to guys. After this year gAy Rod is still owed 4/86 mill, Tex 3/67, CC 3/71(option if healthy 25 mill) and whatever Cano gets (who knows on Grandy). That's way to much money, even for the Yanks, for players on the decline. Add in that in today's free agent market less elite players make it to free agency and the farm system that isn't great it's going to be interesting to see how they rebuild. If guys like Stanton, Price or even Headly become available I don't think they have the prospects to get them. Maybe Mason Williams could be the center piece of a Headly trade.

Crappy fans imo. Go Braves!
Yankees win. Thread officially defunct.
Willie, please re title the thread " surging yankees close to within a game of first place". TIA
You guys are comical. My Yanks are gonna be better than you think. The entire team is on the DL. Yanks will be a little below .500 at the break and make a deal soon before it. The O's, Rays and Jays will sh!t their pants when they see that we're locked and loaded again.
Jeter is back soon and that's just one piece to the puzzle. Grandy will be back as will Tex and A Rod.
Yanks got money to burn, bro. A Rod is def on the decline, but Tex and CC are both still VERY solid. They'll lock in Cano and Grandy will stay as well.
Don't sleep on 'em....
Let em hate. Then when we're good, they can go back to crying about how we buy championships.

Jealousy is the highest form of flattery. Meanwhile, NOBODY mentions the luxury tax that the Yanks dole out to teams throughout the league so that they can compete with us!
Equivalent to Ussain Bolt being best sprinter... Ummm, yeah, you train with OUR trainers and on OUR tracks.
Nothin to cry about, the yanks stopped winning a long time ago bruh
No I did not lose a sig bet, but I am really really really ridiculously good looking.
Not really. Always in the picture. Your team?
3 years in Yankee years is like 21 years in any other team years, right ?
Tex is toast. He's OPS has declined for 4 straight years to a CF like .800. CC is still good but has thrown a ton of innings, coming off surgery, over weight and is on the wrong side of 30. Grandy sucks except for his HRs, not worth the moey he's going to get. Cano's great but giving a guy over 30 a 7 year deal is a bad idea.
Y'all do have money but less guys are hitting free agency in this market.
2009 was an anomaly. Kind of like Auburn winning the NC in 2010. In both cases, it just shows you get what you pay for.
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
A ton of butt hurt geared towards the greatest entity in the history of organized sport. I get it, i'd hate them too if I was not a fan. Carry on.....
So your saying they're not aging and the top players aren't on a decline? I think we coud probably agree they have the best history in pro sports but if you can't see they're in a transition period you've got your Yankee blinders on.
Are the Yankees going to win the World Series in the next couple of years, no, but we're also not finishing last in the East or below .500 like some people are saying. That's idiotic to say. We'll wait and get under the $189 million mark to avoid the penalty and then go out and sign some big time players. That penalty is the only reason the Yankees have waited to go out and sign some better players already.
No doubt they are in transition. But to think they are going anywhere is stupid.
My point is the top guys aren't hitting free agency bc the TV money has changed mlb in the past two years. Cain, Wainright, Andrus, Verlander, posey and others arent hitting the market to buy. Outside of your own FAs the list is Josh Johnson, Ellsbury, Doc Halladay, Choo, Mcann, Lincy and Garza. Probably a good bet half of those resign and most will cost a draft pick and that slot money which teams are staying away from. Stanton and Price will get traded in the next year or so and it's probably coming with a big extension and the Yanks don't have the prospects for either(James Shields was traded for a top 5 prospect). Even teams like the Dodgers taking on huge contracts in trades gave up two top 100 type SP prospects. The Yanks have as much money as anyone but a lot of teams can take on salary these days.
