The Future Is Bright! Hotty Toddy
And people aren't touchy if others don't believe in their scientific "fact"?

University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
Exactly. I felt like I was the only person in Tennessee watching the presidential debates and reading and reading to actually decide who I'd vote for. Everyone else just agreed with their parents basically. Same thing here. I was a Christian once, then I found some concerning patterns, then I figured out what is actually going on and I dont need the feel good tale. I dont need the sugar pill.
Like I said, without a historical analysis you may perceive Christianity as a "some believe and some dont and the Bible explains" that kind of dynamic. You look at human history and the only REASONABLE deeduction is that there are shared beliefs by humans, which in itself proves nothing, but it is apparent than man wants to believe there is something out there but with every passing year we find out more and more clearly that there isn't.
In 100 years when transhumanism is rampant, evidence of life has been found on Mars and over 25 Earth twins have been located, there will still be Christians swearing they can mold the Bible and their faith to encompass that.
All of a sudden a poster i've never seen before this thread knows my life history. Cool.
You are uncertain if God is real or not, but you know his future plans? How exactly did he reveal his future plans to you without revealing he was real as he revealed if he was real, what his future plans didn't involve?
Deducing from facts. Not inducing from mythology.
There's no sure fact. But I would take some evidence over writings about super powers.
Not enabled to post without a condescending or sarcastic tone to Christianity I see.
I tell you one thing, agnostics are less cognitively and emotionally invested in their beliefs than mystics and therefore will prove out, over a sample size, to be less defensive in discussions than mystics.
Share with us the facts that convince you there may or may not be a god, but if there is you have facts to support the position that he has no plans for us after death..
Do you just write anything, read it a few times, and pretend to understand and believe it. lulz.
A few us in here are getting a kick out of the lack of rationale or reason in your responses.
Not a chance. Consider that a throw away comment and disregard. I'm not looking to get into a theological debate.
My point is that this thread is being positioned as a Christians vs the smug lack of faith types. When it couldn't be farther from the truth. If you are a Christian and also do not believe in evolution that's cool by me. But they do not go hand in hand. If someone mocks your beliefs in the latter it does not mean they are mocking Christianity or any religion for that matter.
Humans thought Earth was all there was then they admitted there was a solar system but we're the center of it. Then we werent the center of it but the solar system was all there was. Then we found more stars and we were the center of that. Then we realized we inhabit the most non-central, inconspicuous, bland edge space in the Milky Way galaxy. Our smallness even in our globular cluster is mindnumbing but our cluster is pathetically small in our own galaxy and there are a trillion galaxies. We take observable phenomena and fill in the gap between what we observe and what we understand with god. In the modern age many of us have noticed this pattern and decided to not participate in it any more. The gap is shrinking and god is getting choked out even as an idea.
Like I said, something we'd call god may well exist but if you think its Christ its like you are clinging to an ancient interpretation of a modern discussion. "God" is infinitely likely to either be the sum of all physical laws or a hyper-advanced species member(s) who seeded Earth and manage it as some kind of science endeavor or something similar.
religion in its self was probably just a means to control people.
I believe science and the christian faith go hand in hand. Pure science seems to certainly support the bible. Afterall, God would have also created the laws of physics, so it only makes sense that they go together.
You sure do say in... years quite a bit. Time seems to be the magic word for most other world views. If I add time to this stupid theory people will believe it. In 100 years when we havent found life on another planet, what will be your answer? We need more time!
I really have no idea what to say to you.
Like one poster said, you better hope you are right when you die. We are going to find out one way or another.

By definition, the physical laws of the universe are universal. That does not mean that we correctly understand these laws or know under what circumstances they apply and don't apply. I think it would be better to say, from what we have observed about the physical laws of the universe, this is our understanding. For example, for years, we thought that Newtonian physics fully described a number of universal laws until we started looking at things on the macro and micro level to see that they were incomplete.
Are you freaking serious. If you dont understand the basics of investment psychology then please stop trying to paint me as the idiot.
So just make up a story that cant be proven or disproven and tell the folks who dont agree that they have to or they will burn in hell. Then no matter how much time passes you can just "believe it"
I still want to know what happens (happened) to the native peoples who were born, lived, and died with their ancient beliefs (worshipping the sun, multiple gods, etc.) and never were introduced to Christianity. Were they just SoL?
Classic. I now understand you much better. If you pursue Christ to avoid hell that is self-worship and if He's real you are screwed again. The Bible explicitly states that Faith is a gift and that the Holy Spirit has to act upon someone for them to go from an enemy of god, hostile in mind to reconciliation with him. That has not happened to me. Pray for me. Seriously, I am not so arrogant as to turn down prayer. There is just not even an inkling of expectation behind it.
Honestly, how much hubris does it take to believe that, of all the religions that have ever existed, currently exist, or will ever exist, your current interpretation is the "right" one?
Or both of us are wrong and Johny Muslim is right. Or maybe all 3 of us are wrong and Tina Morman is right. Or maybe all 4 of us are wrong and Phillip Taoist is right. Or maybe all 5 of us are wrong and Johny Satanist is right. Or maybe all 6 of us are wrong and Pardib Hindu is right. Or maybe all 7 of us are wrong and Sven NorseGod is right. Or maybe all 8 of us are wrong and Nina FlyingSpaghettiMonster is right. etc...
