WTF the Fresher the better. Although i think timber recommended the 3-5 week as the peak time. I like my beer as aggressive as it can be.
Sarah sorry about the Herpes.
I should note the I was supposed to be it. I got my first four pack before tailgating at our Nebraska game. Open use of Alcohol is frowned upon by cops even at tailgates in Columbus, dumb i know. I had been partaking a little already and had just had a few tokes when i just cracked it and started to drink one. Everybody was yelling at me to pour it into a cup. i kept telling them the can says to drink straight from it. I was under the impression that they wanted it poured for maximum enjoyment. It was just to not have the cops come over.
They's some dicks at The Shoe.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
No drinking at a taligate? What the hell is this crap?
YOu drink you just have to pour it in a cup. No actually alcohol container can be shown.
Went to get my preggo wife some chow mein, looked at the distribution list for Pliny, saw there was a store about 2 miles away, called them to confirm, and grabbed 3 bottles.
The guy told me they only get a case at a time and they usually last about 2 days... 3 days max. I'll be reporting back with my verdict.
Founders made an good IPA with Centenial. I wasn't blown away like I've been with other brews they've made but it was solid. I'd drink again but many others I'd seek out before this. Especially with how good the rest of Founders products are.
Well balanced and had good taste but for a guy who looks for exciting new takes on IPAs, it wasn't exciting me. It had all the standard IPA characteristics but wasn't in you face. Since it was fresh on tap I was expecting more bold flavors. Wouldn't call it exceptional like BAs have.

Last nights flavor
Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizophrenic and so am I.
I want to try some Blue Mountain stuff at some point.
Just received this little beauty today. Very excited about all of these.
Believe the hype.
Never saw it on draft either, that would be ideal
You inspired me, Aussie. That is damn good.

I think I'll have a side by side tasting of that and Pliny this weekend.
Nelson is gone.
That would be a cool side by side. No worries on Nelson.
Have you done that Bruery thing yet?
I tried Pliny last night for the first time. Very good, but still not as good as Sculpin or 51/50. I'm enjoying a 51/50 right now and if you guys haven't tried it, I'd highly highly recommend. JMO.
Here's a link to it:
Not as good as sculpin eh i will be the judge of that haha. The market has gotten so flooded its hard to tell whats better than what. I know this Fresh Rajah is just hitting the spot.
After having Heady Topper I think it is probably the best DIPA I have ever had
It has everything one needs. High IBU's great hop complexity yet balanced and drinkable. I may have to bug somebody to send me more. Then again i owe him brews first.
Tonight's brew of choice, Speakeasy Prohibition Ale. I'm really digging it, good change of pace from imperial stouts and dipas

Ya, to each his own. I just find more flavor in Sculpin. Like you said, tons of IPAs so the ones with a unique flavor stand out to me. Pliny was very good for a standard IPA but I didn't find it unique.
But it's like me saying my favorite ice cream is chocolate... You're not wrong if you disagree. I also learned that 51/50 is brewed by a former Ballast Point brewer. Probably why those two sit towards the top for me??
I guess I'm going to have to give the Sculpin another try. I had it, enjoyed it, and moved on. Didn't think it was anything to go crazy over, and I wouldn't have thought it to be in Pliny's universe.
IPAs I had in front of it included the Green Flash West Coast, Founders Centenniel, Bells Two Hearted and even Bear Republic Racer 5. Luckily, I have easy access to Ballast Point here, so I'll give'r another go.
