suggestion if not a pitching wedge ...sand wedge ?
I have a 48(which is the same as a PW)
A 54 and a 60. It all depends on the shot you are trying to hit.
I use a 60 if I want to get it up in the air and land it softly and I use a 48 for a bump and run type shot.
I have a 50, 56, and 60. (I have a 50 because I think my PW is a 46 instead of a 48).
I use my 60 all the time around the greens. Great for getting the ball high in the air. I love being able to throw the ball right at the hole and get it to stop quickly.
If I'm going to hit a bump and run I use my 8 iron and hit it like a putt. It's a shot I've been trying to use more lately because I've noticed I get up and down more often with it in certain instances.
I would really recommend working on your wedge game a ton to try and lower your scores. Most people at least get near the green in regulation. You don't want to take 2 shots to get near the green on a par 4 and then take 4 shots (chipping and putting) to take a 6 on the hole.
Develop distances or a feeling for each wedge with a full, 3/4 and 1/2 swing.
I have a 60 Titliest Vokey 56 Cleveland 588 and a 52 Titliest Vokey, will be buying a 48 Cleveland 588 later this summer.
Ya all I have is a pitching wedge. Yesterday I was using a 7 iron for short chips and just kind of swinging it like a putter. It was working pretty good actually
Anybody know anything about Warrior clubs? I got a coupon for a free 19degree hybrid and a 60degree wedge, but I can't tell if these clubs are decent or even legal.
Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm a schizophrenic and so am I.
I have known some people that have them. They are decent but not great. As far as I know they are legal.
I was wondering about the wedge and whether it was square grooved and thus, now banned. Hell, it was only 25 bucks shipping and handling for both, so not a huge deal either way.
Yeah it could be square grooved. I have never seen any warrior wedges.
It depends when it was made. 2011 or later would (should) be conforming grooves. Either way you still have a few years until you would HAVE to switch, 2014. And that's if you're playing in an amateur tournament. If you just play for fun or in a league you will be just fine.
Sold my old irons to Dicks today and got a Taylormade White Smoke putter. First new putter in 8 years.
I bought a new Ping Redwood milled and I am loving it. Truest roll I have ever had from a putter and I have owned just about all of them.
My brother has a Scotty in the exact same style and I think I prefer my Ping.
Signed up for a handicap service online, GAM here in Michigan. Finally have a handicap after 3 years of guessing since I last had one. After 8 round since April 1 when we could record scores I'm sporting a 1.8. Anyone else care to share theirs? Main reason I joined is to play in the AM this year and you need to be able to verify your hc in Europe to play on many of the courses.
not now ...wow
Does anyone in here hit an 8.5º driver? I've been using a 9.5º for years and I've finally worked out a lot of my swing except for one thing: I hit the ball really damn high. With all my clubs, really, which is okay with most of them since it's not all that exaggerated (fairway woods, for example, don't bother me with the height I get). My driver, however, really gets up there. I've tried tweaking numerous things about my swing and have had people watch me and we can't figure out how I still get the ball up so high. So, I think I want to try out an 8.5º club. Anyone have any experience with one and can give me some recommendations?
Have you tried a low launch shaft?
My dad's Titleist D910 is a 9.5º with a regular shaft. My Taylormade Burner (2009) is a 9.5º with the stiffest shaft I could get on the Burner. Both seem to hit the ball about the same height, thought I like the general feel and weight of the D910 better than the Burner (I do miss the stiffer shaft, though).
The shaft has a big effect on your launch angle. Honestly you would probably get more distance and better roll going with a low launch shaft on a 9.5 degree head. It can get pretty expensive when you start getting into the highend shafts.
If you are good and have this problem you probably have a positive angle of attack, meaning you hit up on the ball with the driver. Its actually a good thing, you would need drastically different equipment from the rest of us mortals though haha. Im the other way and went to a 10.5 from a 9.5, but if you read up on any golf forums etc many of the long drivers are hitting 7.5-8.5 drivers with low launch shafts. If you have access to flightscope or trackman check your AOT-angle of attack. If its a positive number you would probably do well with a lower loft. For comparison my AOT is -2.5 degrees.
Never had my swing checked but I know that I am coming in with a negative angle on my driver.
I had tried and tried to correct it but with no luck. I can't hit my driver to save my life anymore. It hit my 3 wood 300 yards and probably can't even get close to that with my driver. It is a mental block at this point.
There was a time when I could bomb my driver but not anymore.
My swing is good with every other club but the driver. This has been going on for about a year.

You hit a 3 wood 300 yards? If I could do that I wouldn't carry a driver.
I have been having this problem for the past 3 months. I actually changed grips, just for my driver and it has helped, I think more mentally than anything.
for any of yall thats had acl surgery how long did you have to wait to hit the links? i told my doc i was ready to play during my 2wk check up and he cracked up and said i cant play for several months. needless to say i didnt find that very freeking funny. but im currently about 3.5 wks out from acl reconstuction and miniscus repair and almost got talked into going last wkend but figured i ought to wait a bit more. i figure someones been through this and has info. tia.
Not all the time but I have hit it out there past 300. My average 3 wood off a tee is probably 285.
At one time I hit my driver consistently around 315 but I am not even approaching that anymore.
Quick question for you guys. I keep hooking my hybrids. It is the only club I do this with. Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried moving the ball in my stance and still a hook. I'm about ready to throw them out the window.
