Controversial Topic: UGA will be top 5 next year....

Still hasn't been disproved and he was suspended for 1Q.

Nor has it been proven by you or anyone else. That is why it is called a rumor.

    Here, let me help.

    ru·mor - noun \ˈrü-mər\

1 : talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source

2 : a statement or report current without known authority for its truth

Slandering the reputation of an 18 year old kid is perfectly acceptable to you. But never use the term UGAy.....that would just be totally classless and reprehensible behavior. lol

The question mark for Georgia is: why havn't they finished top 5 the last 5 years? Georgia has outrecruted every SEC team over a 10 year average span.

Check and see why for yourself. Check and see where those players are who made us so good. We sent more people to the pros over that time span, and and most of those were 3 year players. We have had several huge unlucky/unfortunate injuries/ transfers. I am not going to get into oversigning other than I think we can all agree that when a team does not oversign, then injuries/transfers are magnified ten fold. We have only 5 contributers who are seniors this year. The only one who would be considered a star is Boykin. Next year you will be seeing the same lineup in year three of the new system.

I was thinking the same thing. I know he is love by the cocks, but I have yet to see anything special. I wish he was coming back.

Outside of bringing up a nickel CB who should probably be playing safety, none of this makes sense.

Malcolm Mitchell's the only worrisome part of that roster in 2012 and that's mostly because we'll be unknown at CB outside of Victor Hampton. I guess you're impressed with single score victories over the shit of the SEC but I'm not. That's why I'm not impressed with our victories over them either. But you don't know very much about our roster if you really believe there's a sizeable gap. They have strengths in some places, we have strengths in others.

TBH, it wouldn't surprise me if we lose to UGA in 2012, 3 in a row is tough to do and history isn't on our side, but you haven't said anything in here yet that leads me to believe you know wtf you're talking about.

I hope that you just realize you are wrong but don't care and just want to say whatever you want at any given time. I could respect that.

  • I think expectations will be high for UGA next year. I see a 9-3 season possibly with losses to Bama, Auburn, and Florida. I know the defense this year is ranked high but the teams that UGA has played have been offensively challenged. Still with the returning starters, UGA's defense should be good.

UGA and AU are a lot alike this year and will be next year. Lots of returning starters from a young team.

BTW, UGA loses in 2 weeks to Auburn

Am I wrong that Cummings is the 3rd CB and the size of a safety? Am I wrong that the talent gap isn't as large as he believes? Or am I wrong that South Carolina will be thin at CB in 2012 and UGA might win the matchup?

  • The stats may be decent for UGA, but don't overlook that they are still giving up over 20 points/game against some bad offensive teams so far. The only teams they have played that had anything beat them and Boise embarrassed them.

If UGA starts top 5 next year, they will be the FSU of 2012. Don't overlook how bad the SEC East is this year. It is worse than last year and as a division would struggle in the Big East.

  • No chance Georgia is Top 5 at the end of next season.

He's starting to play better grumble, or at least getting more INTs. Doesn't change the fact he should probably be a safety.

Wrong answer. The defense, in and of itself, is only giving up 13.6 points per game. The offense and special teams are rsponsible for the remainder of the points.

Boise embarrassed us.....but not nearly as bad as Utah did the mighty red elephants.

    Enter excuse here _____________.

  • Imagine what that Utah team would have done to UGA that year.

Would it have been another blackout?

So you are saying that your offense and special teams has given up 54 points this year, or 8 TD's?

I know that your team is pathetic, but that's awful. 2nd place in the SEC Least is a quality season considering the program. Congrats!

Were you saying this about Bama when they couldn't win the pathetic West several years ago?

  • If UGA can finish the deal by beating Auburn, Tech, and win a bowl game, Richt will save his job for another season and start top 15. If he loses to Auburn, Tech, and gets smashed in a bowl game, he will be looking for a new job.

Yes, let's play imaginary football if it supports your position. The fact is that we didn't get beat in a bowl game by Utah, Alabama did.

Yes, that is exactly what I said. The Georgia defense gives up 13 points per game as a unit.

And more inane insults to avoid a point for which you have no substantive answer is not surprising.

    Have a nice day, Bubba.

Of course I was. I hated the Shula hire from the beginning, but under the circumstances with Price's issue (another horrible hire) there probably weren't a lot of options. There weren't even any coaches that could just be the interim coach like Fickell at tOSU. Of course, Mal did fire Shula and went and got the right guy. UGA should do the same. Are you guys going to keep letting Richt limp to 8 and 9 win seasons at best, or do you want to win a BCSCG like the top programs in the SEC? IMO, if an administration even thinks they have a coach on hot seat, it is time to pull the trigger. If you ever have the ask the question, "If he doesn't win this many games?", they are just wasting time until they have a chance to get it right. UGA has too many resources to sit around and let USCe take over the East while Florida is down and Tennessee is awful. UGA should be on their way to a 2nd straight SECCG appearance and that should be the standard to live up to. The Muschamp/Weis hire at UF is going to be an abomination and if Muschamp doesn't get rid of Weis soon, he is going to go down with him. Spurrier is not going to be around too much longer and at that point, USCe is going to make a huge mistake and probably give the job to Steve's son, and Tennessee is just awful and not going anywhere fast. If UGA can not capitalize on this timeframe in the East, they never will. The talent is there and the right coach could come in and get things together there in Athens. I think time has just passed Richt by in this situation. New blood is needed.

    BetterOff

  • I think UGA has a shot to be preseason Top 10 with an outside chance of preseason Top 5.

This past year, my Gamecocks finished 8-5 with a blowout loss in the SECCG and got solidly beaten by FSU in a bowl game and some places (ESPN included) had us Top 10 based solely on paper. We had AJ and ML coming back with a 5th-yr senior QB. A top SEC DL including the #1 overall recruit coming in.

UGA could get the same love with an experienced QB (who is actually better than Garcia) in Murray, a young breakout RB in Crowell, and some solid defenders. Also count in the fact that they have a realistic shot to go to ATL this year, and be favorites for next year. All of these things combined makes me think they have a chance.

Now I understand that many people will think it may not be deserved and may not agree with the ranking but that won't stop the votes from the AP.

He is the opposite of Greg Reid. Gamecocks love Gilmore and yet much of the rest of the country thinks he's not very good. He looked like a freshman three star against FSU in the Chick-fil-a.

Greg is thought to be elite by most others and yet many FSU fans can barely stand to watch him.

Boykin is our nickel when we play one. Commings is our second best cb and second on the depth chart. He is the guy who usually stays on the bigger recievers (Alshon). Yes he does have the size for safety and yes he had to move to safety for one game but he is our number two corner behind boykin unless we play nickel then he is our 1st corner. All UGA corners will be this size before long as this is the prefererred size by Lakatos and Grantham.

Living in Atlanta and claiming as much knowledge of UGA you should probably know this, huh? BTW, I live in Auburn, don't know sh*t about Auburn, because I don't give a f*ck about Auburn. Quit acting like you have a clue.

  • Time for me to jump into this thread.

I think a lot depends on what happens the rest of the year and who leaves for the draft. The thing to think about is that a lot of the top teams this year will lose a lot after this season depending on the draft.

LSU loses Lee I believe, but returns almost everyone else. They will be top 5
Bama will lose Richardson, and a lot from thier defense. They will be top 10
Okla loses Broyles and Jones. They will not be top 10
Okie State will lose Blackman and Weeden. They will not be top 10
    Stanford loses Luck. Enough said.
Boise loses Kellen Moore. Enough said
Oregon will have Barner, James and Thomas back I believe. Will be in the top 5

Going into next year, thier will be a lot of unknowns. I could see a lot of change in the polls from the preseason to the final poll. So, UGA could be in the top 5 but they could be this years FSU.

I think SC has a good chance to be top 5 preseason next year depending on how we finish the season.
