Well if AJ leaves after this year, there wouldn't be much competition or if he redshirted and waited after AJ left after his senior year, then he still would be a (r)FR and would have almost no competition.

I'm happy with our QB depth now. For 2013 we'll now have McCarron, Ely, Morris and Bateman. I think whether we take another QB in this class could have to do with what Morris shows the coaches this fall. I don't think we'll take a second QB in this class.

AJ will be a Senior when Bateman is a true frosh. AJ will graduate after the 2013 season, Bateman comes in as an early enrollee before the 2013 season. The only way AJ is gone before Bateman gets here is if AJ leaves early.

If McCarron leaves early. McCarron will be a Jr in 2012 and a Sr in 2013. Bateman is in the class of 2013.

This is why I asked...IMO, unless he has a true breakout season, it would not be good for him to leave after his Jr. year.

We never really felt good about our chances. We had already moved on before this news came out. Well not moved on but for sure started looking heavily at other guys.

That is surprising. I really thought Florida would be the place that he ended up at. I'm happy to land him nevertheless.

Considering the position need, the offer list around this kid, and all the film you could want, I don't find it at all surprising. For that quality of a player given the teams needs, he should be definitely scouted as an offer first then ask questions prospect.
