Could Devin Gardner be the B1G's best QB in 2013?

  • mriderblue12 said...

He called a pretty good game against South Carolina. shrug

But after all it is azvalleybuckeye we are talking about here. If we get a literate post from you it's a win for the board.

Yes he did. That may have been the closest thing they did last year to Borges's system.

The key for Borges to be successful is going to be getting the running game going to lead to playaction.

Probably one of the top 3 or 4 in the B1G, IMO. League was awful at that position last season, with McGloin probably being the one exception, IYAM.

Hard to judge Braxton against that level of competition.

see you have a skewed opinion on the term BEST QB.

Best *passing* QB sounds more like what you are looking for.

IMO, the BEST QB would be the QB who gives his team the best chance at winning a football game. Hard to argue against 12-0 and Braxton's ability to be a game changer.

See that is why this thread is solid fail.

this kid is supposed to be the best QB in the B10 next year, but couldn't beat out a slot receiver pretending to be a QB in a system designed to throw the football?

roflmao Yeah, because if you had DG on your bench in 2014, you'd clearly want to bench Braxton Miller right away for him.

    What you drinking today BetterOff???

    Nothing yet!

I like the guy and think it was a mistake for him not to have already been starting, but I understand why it happened.

I still think he could suck, but if the improvement between the end of the season and the bowl game means anything, I think he has a chance to be very successful.

Enough flaming and name calling men!!! Let's have competitive banter K?

Gardner went 3-2 last year as a starter, against OSU and USC he had completion percentages of 55% and 50% 4 tds and 2 int's let those numbers soak in.

    Not skewed at all.

I think Manziel is the best QB in the game right now. He is a good passing QB, maybe not great.....along with being the top running QB as well.

Not at all, because he couldn't hold a candle to Braxton. Only you delusional kids from up North seem to believe that crap.

    Great math.

And they also went 0-2 in those games and didn't cross midfield in the 2H in one of them

You were the one who brought up the dumb stat shrug

His TD rate was very similar in the games you pointed out, and everyone does better vs. bad teams. So I'm not really sure what the point of your post was. Once again you prove your worth (it's limited at best).

    Terry > Gardner IMO.

The B1G offensive player of the year, who had a total of 3300 yards and 28 tds, finished 5th on the Heisman ballot as a true sophomore.

Good luck with your troll post

I don't think those numbers say what you want them to. Of his 5 career starts, his two worst (against top competition) were 50+% with a 2/1 TD/Int ratio. Not a knock on him at all IMO. If it were his third year as a starter, then maybe. But it was his 4th and 5th career starts.

If you want to single out games, how did Braxton Miller do against Purdue at home?

  • DG is alot more accurate of a passer than I thought he would be. He played very well for a Qb who had played WR for the first half of the year. But there's no way he'll be better than braxton this year it's just not happening.
Braxton is light years better than him as a runner, playing with better athletes, and in a offense much more suited for his skillset

I dunno 10 starting OL on the field with Gardner will be pretty formidable

  • To answer the OP, he could be if he progresses a lot and Borges calls smart games. He could also do pretty poorly. Potential-wise, he has enormous upside. He's extremely athletic and has a strong arm. His ceiling is being similar to the UT version of Vince Young. His floor is being similar to a crappy QB. We'll see what happens in the next couple years shrug

But right now, Braxton is the best bet for top QB and offensive player in the Big Ten. He's got the system that fits him and he's proven more than Gardner has.

Ah, a Ped State reference. Good, that means you're resorting to insults rather than arguments. I'll tell you. Against the Purdue Boilermakers, at home, Miller was 9/20 (45%), for 113 yards, 0 TD's and 1 INT.

Against Wisconsin, he was 10-18 (55.6%) for 97 yards, no TD's and no INT's.

I'm hardly a supporter of Gardner, but the OSU fans desperately trying to convince themselves that he sucks are pretty amusing.
