I think we'd be almost impossible to occupy due to the force it would require, too many people, varying landscapes, geography is just huge.
If we still have guns, we'd be almost impossible to conquer with 100 million gun owners.
someone would have to think our resources were valuable enough to wreck the entire world economy.
I think China and Russia are much smarter than that and would prefer to conquer us economically.

Makes sense.
My argument is if the world's supply of fossil fuels ends up running very low say faster than we expect the economies will already be crippled to an extent as would most basic functions of a society.
I saw first hand with Sandy, I told everyone to fill up prior to the storm, they didn't listen. I had a friend wait 4 hours at one gas station, just to get within 10 cars or so of the pump before the station ran out of gas. He then waited in another line at another station and ran out of gas while in line along with numerous other people who all had to push their cars up to the pumps.
The only way anyone would step is if it was an all out necessity for their survival and a serious case of jelly.

No, and China's effort to create the strongest physical army in the world is so last million years. Cyber capabilities will be far more influential going forward. I believe a treaty will be signed globally to forbid using non-human soldiers because without the risk of losing life there isnt enough hesitation.
