Wouldn't surprise. They couldn't upset their voting block with a move like that because most of them dont have any money to take. shrug

And the whole time they would be telling you how fair it is to take $1000's from some and take $6 from others.

Obama would come up with a plan where people on welfare would actually gain money in this situation. They could go from not having a bank account to having a savings account with more money than they have paid in taxes in a decade.

I think we should do something similar here in the states. Starting tomorrow any registered Democrat/Liberal will see the government via the banking system confiscate at least 22% of your income. If you are Soros, Buffett, or Gates the number jumps to 87%. If you are government worker 58%, and if you are an actor/professional athlete 69%.

Let's see how many of these groups get on board to paying their fair share, like the common Cypriot.

Just curious why would a government worker be taxed @ 58%? I can understand politicians, but some people don't realize that USG workers get paid pennies for the same work in the private sector. I don't see the point behind higher taxes for USG employees. Some are deadweight, but many are very legit/hardworking people.

    Uh.....no...

Are you opposed only because you think withholding or some other form of taxation would be better? Or are you opposed to the manner and method in which these taxes would be collected?

I'm opposed to the deposit tax because I don't like the way it was implemented, why it was implemented and its efficacy.

So you're blaming Obama for something that happened in another country and has zero chance of happening here.

Now I see why people hate Obama. If you use this logic then its only a matter or time before he starts WWIII and uses it to institute a Big Brother state.

It would be a smart idea. It's how America was finally able to pull out of the Great Depression. Have a monopoly on manufacturing because most of the other industrialized nations infrastructures were bombed into oblivion.

Of course, it would take 15 years under the current political climate to build one new manufacturing plant, so maybe not.

Last thing we need is another war. The fact that we've been in the Middle east for 12 years is actually pretty terrifying. May not seem like a long time if you're a little older, but it means that we've been at war more than half of my life. It's a military industrial complex that has been perpetuated by both parties.

I saw somewhere that military spending is now 700 billion a year. Insane.

You mean the same way we ended up a generation behind in industry for a few decades because those same countries we demolished had better factories because of more recent upgrades?

This a rhetorical question. I'm just pointing out that starting a war doesn't necessarily have the same effects each time nor is it entirely beneficial from start to finish.

Why did the US and other Allies support each other and their former enemies?
