Crazy idea for 24/7 sports

  • I just want to get everyone's opinion on this. What about the possibility of allowing us to subscribe to multiple sites for a discounted price? There are multiple VIP comments that I would like to read on other sites, but I can't justify $10 a month for each one. I'm sure that there are many other fans that feel this way. I think this would be a great way to get some extra money from existing subscribers, and maybe steal some more customers from other sites. You could have a national package and multiple regional packages at different rates. Another option would be getting access to another site when you are already paying for multiple subscriptions, like a "buy 3, get 2 for free" or something like that. I could see myself spending $18 a month on a Pac-12 package (or more if more teams are added), and maybe $40 a month for access to all of the sites.

  • I have been saying the same thing since I moved over here. The only thing it would do is add revenue, and I cant imagine there are too many people doubling up already that sites would lose revenue. I would do 20/month to add a rivals package that included Miami/Florida/Clemson or something like that.

Isn't the issue that the sites are independently owned and operated but are affiliates of 247sports?

We've had plans for this from day one. If we simply went with an "add a second site for less" what do you think the price point should be (monthly and annual)? If we can see the demand for this, we may move it up ahead of a few things. I agree that $10 a month each is too much, but wasn't sure how many people would want two sites.

  • I personally would love to belong to several sites that we consistently are in recruiting battles with to get another perspective on the recruits. Right now Bama, UF, and Miami would be up there for me but I cannot justify another $30 a month for that.

If we do this, can we please do it with the understanding that no person shall have access to both Alabama and Auburn message boards? Please?

I like the idea of a "rivals" package. I would do $20 for UF/UM/Clemson.

I think that if you posted a thread asking about the demand you would be surprised at how many subscribers are interested in belonging to multiple sites.

  • All you have to do is to make it clear that this is not to be used to troll or flame rival teams sites. That you will be banned immediately from that site if you do. I personally do not see me even posting on rival sites but I would definitely like to read what their "insiders" and staff think.

I don't know, but I currently have an OSU and Cincinnati subscription and with the setup here all I am really getting for the extra 10 a month is to read VIP posts. I thought about dropping one of them, but can't bring my self to do it. Obviously you would have to take care of each network so I don't know what the business model is, 1/2 price would be great for the 2nd one. I bet many OSU fans would join a Michigan site and vice versa.

  • I have thought 24/7 should do this for a while. An All-Access Pass was what I was thinking.

    purple_rein

  • I really like the idea. But you should only be allowed to post on your home site. I think it should be done by conference, like 20 dollars a month to post on BOL, and get to read the other sites.

Or maybe do it like get to read five sites for an additional 10 bucks. I think it needs to be more than just one site you can add.

The more there is for us to read, the longer we stay on on your site. ;)

Yes, this is the major drawback with the idea that I see. I like the idea to be able to read VIP on a rival board, but, it has the potential to become a cespool with trolling!

Just disable accounts from posting. I don't have any desire to post on AUC, but I would like to read it.

Definitely would create a mechanism to limit the posting. You would only be able to post on the site you pay full for.

I'm not worried about the trolling part, I can control that with some easy measures ... There are certain types of content that we currently put on the boards to make it exclusive to a fan base like War Rooms. I might need a way to limit the access there on a few things (less than 5, more likely 3). I don't want to create these threads where one community complains that another one is stealing their War Room info... that's just another way to troll.

  • Noah,

How about for 20 dollars we can have our 10 a month membership plus we can pick 4 sites to read all vip content but not post anything. Then you can Switch which sites you read monthly based on recruiting battles or who you play next month.

Content pieces that give "inside" information to that fan base only. The publishers post it on the premium forum so that other fans cannot read it. It's an awesome piece for those markets that get it .. basically all your recruiting/team questions answered in one huge post. hawgrun

  • The $20 per month to be able to read all boards but only post on your own team site would be a boon for 247 IMO. That is an option that I have wanted for years.

If it where the "add a second site for less" model, I would want the second site for half price. I would be much more interested in a package that included multiple teams, or an all access pass.

I think the easy way to solve this is to give people a permanent ban if they post vip info from one site on another. I think it's an obvious no-no. I'm also not sure what information could possibly be so sensitive that it would have to be withheld from paying members, and knowing they don't have access to everything would discourage people from paying for extra sites. As long as we promise not share the info with anyone, it shouldn't be a problem. Just my opinion.
