  • An analyst from TOS said he is going to OU. Doesn't shock me, but what's the latest that anybody has heard? I am almost positive it is down to Ark/OU.

  • I think you are probably right. We are holding out hope that he comes down for the IB but even if he did I think we are a long shot in the deal. I'd be surprised if he didn't end up at OU. Although, he would be sick in Petrino's offense.

  • Nvmd, was going to try and troll but remembered I suck at it. Hope he goes to OU or Arky, best offenses for him.

  • And Arky will have one more reason to bitch that they were "one step away" from being on our levels.

  • I hope its us but I've been hearing Arky offered his dad an assistant position. If so he will go there. We were the leader for him for a long time up until recently and he would be a stud in any offense. The kid will go pro wherever he goes, just hope he comes here.

Not sure if that rumor about the assistant offer is true or not. Can anyone confirm?

Can't confirm it, but we have heard it too.

I am not sure either. That's why I asked. I am not sure where on the staff he would be, if hired. And if this is true, I certainly don't think one player is worth the potential loss of coaching ability of say 10 other players, unless that person is Cam Newton. Dumb move if true.

Arkansas has tried this before with Gus Malzahn and Mitch Mustain, Damian Williams, and crew. It backfired horribly for Houston Nutt. I never want to see our program indirectly buy players.

  • inthezone,

DGB is not going to be the difference between winning a title and not. He won't bring our program higher than it is right now. The only types of players that do that are QBs and very special defensive players like Suh, Rolo and Glen Dorsey.

If that ist he case I thank God that Bobby P does not know how to coach defense. The Hawgs will always be play second fiddle to Alabama and LSU.

He knows how to coach defense, it's just really hard to recruit to Arkansas. It's a small state and the demographics of the state don't make for great High School football. The great talent is in Lousiana, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi, but because of proximity it's just tough to recruit. So, Bobby recruits the best he can and coaches both of 'em up the best he can.

If you switched Saban and Bobby, similar results would ensue.

This is completely false. Saban is a recruiting machine

Saban has enjoyed the benefit of coaching at LSU and Alabama.

Compare Bobby Petrino at Arkansas to Saban at Mich State.

Petrino has had more success and both Arkansas/MSU historically are almost identical in terms of NCs, Bowl games. wins.

I do agree that Saban is a recruiting machine, but Bobby Petrino hasn't exactly been a sweet gigs.

I do not dislike Arkansas but that seems to happen a lot there! Stud QB's stacked up at OU with WR competition wide open. He will shine where ever he goes but he will start and star right away at OU. Could we not use another assistant?lol
