  • The reason corporate profits are so high is a combination of technology allowing them to hire less people and the fed driving down interest rates, allowing corporations to borrow money cheaper than any time in history.

    i don't get it.

so, you mean that because of the technological advances, the "middle class" should now all become serfs?

I mean that like Bill Clinton says, the US needs to develop a new industry every eight-ten years to employ people and keep the US dominant. We had the dot com boom, followed by the housing boom. We need to develop a new industry to keep people employed. Technology is used by corporations to allow them to be more efficient. The more effecient a company is, the less people they need to employ.

To have that new industry, we need to have an educated workforce that is skilled enough. That will take I don't care what someone says about Climate Change, but green energy and green tech has unlimited potential.

You're aware that these companies are dying in the US right now because they can't compete on price with the Chinese and even the Europeans. First Solar was our best "Green" company and they're getting demolished(Their stock is at $13, it was at $300 three years ago).

We're not going to be able to manufacture our way out of this, unless America is willing to accept lower wages.

  • before you republifags and demibitches start in on this thread, let's think of something:

both sides are the exact same.

conservative ideals have genuinely failed to create a sustainable nation, except for the super rich who love all of you middle class republisheep that keep them relevant with your idiocy.

liberal ideals have genuinely failed to create a sustainable nation, except for the super rich who love all of you lower class demobitches that keep them relevant with your idiocy.

if you are partisan, you are just another fool sustaining the status quo of this nation. keep this thread partisan free because both parties, and both extremes have failed this country miserably

    ha ha ha ha....

well, h ah aha h ahhhhaaa ha ha ha...

holy shit... ha ha ha ha ha... see, the companies aren't failing, it is the upper management who keeps mining the companies that are failing. if the upper management wanted to make the same amount of money, but spread it over some years, you know, in the interest of keeping a corporation or a company sound, then there would be much more sustainability...

what the worker needs to do is accept lower wages, AGAIN, while the upper management gives more raises and accepts more and more in corporate welfare and bailouts.

    sounds perfect

true story. Time for a revolution. The way this country is headed it will be rich or poor...and when it gets closer to that point it will happen. Political parties choke this country, thats why I think its disturbing when people affiliate themselves with one or the other(those who vote straight tickets are the extreme ignorant). Do away with political parties and have someone run genuinely on their own ideas and views this country should head in.

Yes because we'd rather subsidize oil and coal. Those countries are fostering those industries. The only barrier to green energy and tech is bringing down the cost of production which takes research, development and investment. I've seen charts that showed (and when I get acl home I'll link them) renewable energy would be cheaper than oil and coal if given the same subsidization.

Edit:on the wage issue, China is the only country who has wage advantage. Green companies in Europe have similar if not slightly less wages than US' workers. Wages can be offset by distance in production/consumption,subsidy,quality of good (including make and model[i.e.efficieny]) etc.
