I didn't name THE GAME... soccor is track with a ball.

Most sports of the football variety stem from late 1800s prep school yard games. The northeast prep schools fraternize with their English prep school bretherens and mixed rules and names and such.

In England, the games diverged into football and rugby.

In America, we already had our version called football so we adapted to calling it soccer (comes from aSSOCiation football),

But it isn't a terribly popular sport in the U.S. as compared to the NFL, CFB, NBA, CBB, etc.

Mmm...maybe soccer is more popular than that in the U.S. but not by much IMO.

yeah, giant conspiracy theory where espn airs shit that no one wants to see and advertisers won't pay for. somehow espn is the most successful cable network in history by making terrible business decisions like showing the entire world cup and euro tournaments. smh.

Attendance wise MLS is doing very well in the US.

    Ratings-wise,not so much...

WC and International club and country competitions ratings do VERY well.

To be honest, if sports were a stock, soccer in the US would definitely be a BUY.

    I don't care if you're trolling, I'm going to provide a rebuttal.

No one is trying to force anything. ESPN is a business and sees a profit. Nothing else.

The US has not won the World Cup, but our success in CONCACAF and in other international competitions (including WC,Confederations Cup etc.) has been better than probably 85% of the rest of the world (and that's amazing considering it literally had been almost non-existent except at the youth level since 1996 (except periods in the 70s,80s with the short-lived NASL and the ASL in the 20s,30s).

Athleticism can only get you so far like any sport. Our players lack the proper training in technical skill and fostering of creativity.

By the way, we aren't the best the country in baseball anymore.

By the way, I'd love to hear you call Tim Howard,Oguchi Onyewu or Clint Dempsey a sissy or fruit to their face.

This will probably scare you more than impress you, but in the LA metro area the Mexico-El Salvador World Cup qualifying game the other night did twice as good in the 18-49 demographic than the NBA Finals.

I would my dude. I aint never scurred!!! No. In all fairness they are great athletes. You almost have to be to run up & down that huge field for hours on end. Soccer just does not appeal to the masses here & it never will imo. It's just fact. Now can it find a niche & a nice little following here? Yes. But be a big deal in the state's? Never.

Sorry dude, but by 2050 more than half of the population in the US will be minorities.

Soccer will indeed be the most popular sport here. It's only a matter of time.
