    I don't know how often BOL gets trolled (probably not as much since it's a pay-to-post site", but there are a lot of merits to the $5/user name. At the very least, it requires a troll to have a credit card on file.

    I don't know what will come of it, but I think the discussion is worth having. It'd be a bar to invasions from Rivals, etc. and probably weed out some of the fringe elements.

    On the flip side, that's obviously going to be a barrier to overall network traffic.

    Thoughts?

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    Interesting idea, but I don't think the trolling problem is bad enough on tBB to warrant this.

    Our issue is trying to maintain an open a free conversation, welcoming to all comers has been heavily abused by a small handful of folks who think its just wildly hilarious to come on and chant anti-homosexual and racist things in just about every post. The mods are essentially powerless to do anything since once they ban the poster, they just make a new handle and are right back at it. We figure this would slow them down a bit. Hell, we'd even be willing to offer up tRCMB as a pilot program for the rest of the 247 network.

    Aussie brings up a good point. They get the 'watch episode 1 of frankie's weiner season 2' a couple times a week from spammers. Aren't there some places that just verify with a $1 transaction that never goes through, who you are? I think that is how some gambling sites used to work. Once a CC is on file it should be able to notify that the same person is trying to use it. Maybe give the first name free, and after that charge per name. Granted between debit and credit cards, I have about 8 cards I could use.

    I think it would deter some from creating a troll account.

    At the very least if they create a troll account and it gets banned they have to start a new account and pay $5 again.
