  • Notre Dame should fit in well in the ACC. Not really that good and arrogant.

  • Sucks to see good rivalries go away like this. They are going to find room for their home and home with Northwestern coming up and they'll continue the Navy rivalry, but drop the one that the rest of us find interesting. Not good for college football, IMO.

agreed... Notre Dame now gets to pick and choose who they want to play from the ACC and can let the USCs and Michigans fall by the wayside. It's a win in every way for ND, but college football loses out

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. That's what I love about most ND haters. Just spout out at the mouth with no knowledge of what you speak.

They do not get to pick and choose. They play 5 ACC teams per year on a rotating basis. The ACC decides who they will play.

ND is not stopping their series with USC, or Stanford, or Navy. Long time rivals. Why would they. Probably keep 2 B1G schools as well. UM was the one 'rival' that seemed was best to part ways with. Been on and off for years anyways.

Please, know what you are saying before hating. Just makes you look bad when you don't. biggrin

  • Michigan fans exist?

Well, they show up ITT to say they don't care abt ND. Their team did not appear to care abt ND either, after this past wkend's 6-13 loss. Its ironic they don't care, yet they have to state ITT that they do not care.

ND doesn't appear to need to play Michigan. While I am anything but a ND fan (quite the opposite), ND doesn't need to play michigan any longer. Besides tradition, what does Michigan bring?

So you enjoy crappy matchups, watered down out of conference schedules, and the end of natural rivalries.

You should take Mark Emmerts job. I bet your on-field product would be riveting.

I think Texas fills in for Michigan pretty well. Let's see who Michigan has take ND's place. Hopefully not a directional school.

  • Thanks to Michigan the ND/Mich Rivalry has had many breaks. ND used the out clause in the contract but that does not mean they no longer plan on Mich. They just felt they no longer could continue the present contract. Under the contract for every year they played it added a year to the end of the contract. ND gave the notice now so there would not be several more years obligation added. They will no doubt work on a new contract that will have Mich and ND playing again, but just not every year. I have no doubt they will work on new contracts with Purdue and MSU as well. I would guess priority would go to MSU and then rotate Purdue and Mich. Of the 3, ND has played Mich the least (33) and Purdue the most (80). They have played MSU 69 times.

USC would be right up there with Purdue, if not for WWII and mandated travel restrictions. That is the one and only break from the series in our history.
