    I thought about Nicks also.

Another that could be there but hasn't really had a chance to show how talented he could be is, Demaryius Thomas.

  • Antonio Brown had one hell of a season in the 2nd half

Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.

  • If Im drafting WR right now this is my draft board. And since this is more about talent Ill forget injury issues.

    1. Calvin Johnson- Any list without him #1 is flat out wrong imo.
    2. Larry Fitzgerald
    3. Andre Johnson- Injuries hurt him this year. Hopefully he can get fully recovered

Those 3 are the obvious no brainer top 3 imo.

    next 2
    4. AJ Green- freak athlete and helped make Dalton a pro bowl QB. (as an alternate but still impressive)
    5. Brandon Marshall- give him a decent QB like Cutler in Denver and he can be amazing. If the Dolphins can get Matt Flynn with Philbin's passing game look out.

Honorable Mention- Jennings, Welker, Roddy White, Bowe, Steve Smith, Cruz, and Nicks

Agree with whoever said Demaryius Thomas. He had alot of injury problems this year and his rookie year. Also had one of the worst QBs in the league throwing to him. (please no Tebow argument). Physically he could be dominant someday.

Nicks is gonna be awesome... he'll be on everybodies list at this time next season barring an injury

I'm biased because I'm a giants fan, but I think Nicks and Cruz both have the talent to be top 5 receivers if they put the work in (I think Nicks is already top 5) but neither of them are ever gonna put up crazy stats, because teams have to pick their poison... and whoever they pick to focus on has like 3 catches for like under 50 yards... the one they ignore goes H.A.M.... All season teams focused on Nicks, then Atlanta and Green Bay didn't and he caught 4 td's in 2 games...

Because the question asked was TALENT, not accomplishment. Not saying whether he belongs or not, but just looking solely at talent, it is completely reasonable to have him on the list.

So, is Cam Newton a top 5 player at his position then?

  • 1 - calvin johnson
    2a - larry fitzgerald
    2b - andre johnson
    4 - Brandon Marshall
    5 - AJ Green

One thing I have noticed in this thread is the tiers.

    Tier 1 = Calvin Johnson
Tier 2 = AJ and Fitz
Tier 3 = Pick from a group of around 10 guys.

Top 5? God no. I could maybe see an argument for Top10-15, just looking at talent. He still has a ways to go as a passer to even dream of being top 5, but if you were ranking the running QBs based on talent, then maybe.

I was just comparing his situation to AJ's. They're both rookies with undeniable talent, but I still would have them outside the top 5.

yea that was a miss on my part. I'd put him in that honorable mention area. The top 5 are solid imo.
