Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron throws a 57 yard pass to receiver Kenny Bell for a touchdown against Mississippi State at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The Crimson Tide went on to dominate the rest of the game holding the Bulldogs scoreless until late in the 4th quarter. The final score: 38-7. NOTICE: I claim no ownership of this footage. • Milliner is definitely the top CB in the draft and had a very good year. The overrated part I can see but based only on where he'll get drafted. He'll get drafted in the top 10 range and he's just not that elite a prospect. It has more to do with this being a draft without those lock franchise type guys. This is a draft full of boom or bust type 1st round guys and basically that means a lot of kids will be drafted higher than they would ordinarily or be pegged as overrated based purely on where they're drafted. Milliner falls in that category with guys like Mingo. Guys extremely talented but not really those guys that are seen as sure fire boom prospects.

Agree. I dont think Milliner will be a top 5 sure fire shut down corner in the NFL, but he will be a really solid addition to somebody's secondary. I know I'd love to add him to the Falcons group, would make them worlds better.

Doesn't make mistakes, is big enough, fast, good cover skills and loves to tackle.

Just kidding, Banks is a great player and seems like a great guy, but he was definitely run past on a few occasions this year (Alabama and Ole Miss specifically). One of Banks real strengths is he is so long.

Well he did get hurt on a dirty hit against mid Tennessee and was only about 75% the rest of the year. And lets be honest bama has some really good receivers and moncrief would be an all-American if he had a qb that could really get him the ball

  • hes a good corner and he will go in the top 10 but hes not top 10 caliber.corners are very highly valued like QBs and teams are more likley to reach on them than other positions. hes probably closer to a #12 value but will definately go earlier. i see a guy who will be a good number 2 corner in the league. there isnt a darrelle revis type corner at all in this draft. bunch of good number 2s in milliner, banks, and rhodes, just not a clearcut probowl level guy like a revis or a richard sherman

This. DMill is the man, but he will be a for sure solid no 2 corner in the league and there is nothing wrong with that at all, but just like phillip said there is no clear cut no 1 type corner in this draft.

  • I think Milliner and Banks are both really good corners. If I had to choose one for the Steelers, it would be Milliner, but I would love to have Banks as well. If Pittsburgh drafts around 17th, Banks could be an option.

    Overated?????

I think so. Good CB, but nothing spectacular. Definitely not a shutdown CB. A solid #2 CB.IMO. I dont think hes in the same class as Mo Claiborne, P Peterson, or even Joe Haden. Thoughts???? I also remember Jhonny Football abusing him.

Glad to see you know more than the experts

  • Millner is quite good, and so is Banks. Both are 1a and 1b as top CB in CFB this year. Nevertheless, they are both in no way, shape, or form "out of the box" shutdown NFL corners the moment they are drafted. Guys like Revis, Champ Bailey, Primetime--that type of CB---does not exist in this draft. The only reason either of them will be picked in the first round is the relative dearth of actual "shutdown" CB's in the 2013 draft and teams desperate for Secondary help will reach for them. Don't get me wrong, they are both really good and will excel IMO at the next level. In that same vein, that does not mean that both won't eventually develop in the NFL a few years into their respective careers into that type of corner. It's just they are not at that level right now.

Both are good, and could become a Bailey, Revis, etc., but neither are sure things. Their value in the 1st round, IMHO, has more to do with factors other than their relative skill at the position.

  • I keep reading everyone keeps saying that Milliner and Banks aren't shut down corners and I will agree with that and I can't speak for Banks because I haven't watched him as much BUT while Milliner may not me a shut down corner he is a first round draft pick in any draft! Just saying.

  • Milliner is the best CB in this draft.

That being said though, I agree with OP Mo Claiborne and Joe Haden are better. I think Milliner > Peterson, though.

Not as a punt/kick returner. But as an actual CB, Milliner is better. He has better cover skills than Peterson.

    Didn't answer my question.

Yes Banks won the Thorpe... Doesn't prove much. The HoneyBadger won the Bendarik award last year as the best defensive player in the country... Thing is he was the 4th best player in the secondary on his team. I hope Banks played better in the rest of the games than he did against Bama. Bama went after him just like they went after the HB last year (in both games).

    Huh?

I can't go with you on that one. First of all Claiborne couldn't hold a candle to Peterson and LSU fans will tell you that. Milliner is no scrub whatsoever, but coming from a Bama fan, I don't think Milliner is close to Peterson or Haden and probably slightly less talented than Claiborne.

You do realize banks was only 70 to 75% after mid Tennessee state right?

No... I didn't realize that. So he won the Thorpe on his performance in the first half of the season? That doesn't seem right...

I know Peterson has all the athletic ability in the world, but I seem to recall him not being a great cover corner. (I could very well be wrong)

He gave Julio Jones absolute fits. That is all you need to know about him. He was an awesome cover corner.

Edit: I'm really not trying to give you hell. I read my previous statement and I sounded like a dick. I wasn't trying to be.
