Derrick Henry

  • Go ahead and bite my head off like you did last week when I said Allen was on board, but look for Derrick Henry to switch to the tide shortly.

  • I hate Saban, He will end up turning Henry into a badass DE or LB

  • I agree with you but he'll get his initial shot at rb

    rsfields31

  • Yea he will but I don't think it will be for long. Maybe a couple weeks of practice then he will be switched to defense. Is Calloway still at RB?

  • Nope got moved to LB and just didnt catch on, then moved to H-back and looks to be catching on

  • Ok, if he does flip what are you going to do with him? He is not better than your 2 RB commits for 2013 and definitely not better than Yeldon. I thought he could be a H Back but I have heard he has terrible hands and can't catch. If you move him to defense it is going to take him at least 1 or even 2 years after his 1 year of playing RB for him to even be able to contribute because he has to learn how to play on the defensive side of the ball after playing RB his whole life. I was mad UF was not going after him hard enough after he stated he was a gator fan growing up but after hearing the pros and cons on his game I think it was the right decision by the coaches not to pursue him as hard.

Calloway is at H-back now. He seems to be doing really well there.

Edit: Didn't see Jos Mit's post on Calloway

I either see him toting the rock as a big back or playing defense.. Saban likes to recruit athletes who have the ability to play multiple positions. It's all about scheme with saban and which athletes can run a certain set. Also saban is not afraid to run 3 or 4 different running backs in a game. Having t rich and Ingram he didn't necessarily have to do that but I fully expect to see 4 rbs getting meaningful carries this year. Somebody might get hot and that's who saban will stick with suing that game the most, but you can bet your last dollar Bama will be running a lot of backs this year. Fwiw, Henry is not afraid of competition.

  • He'd be a suped up version of Smelley. Great land.

    fsufsu

  • I would love to get him and put him at H-Back. He would be an absolute match up nightmare and hands are something that could be worked on. He looks like he could put on another 20-30 pounds easily.

Not saying anything this time, will wait. Hope he does, cant have to many jumbo athletes on the field

He would be a LBer, though he could outgrow the position and end up on the DL.

I dont see him outgroing LB in our defense

    ReasonableDoubt

  • It would take a year of Marine style basic training from Saban and Co to get him to be a LB. He just isn't a mean kid on the field. He's that 6'3 240 guy who flies across the field, tracking down some poor 5'11 170 guy and then when he gets there he wraps up and drags him down.

  • Still a wait and see for me. Could be wanting to play the game a little bit as well. I'd still say 60/40 he's signing at UGA, but I wouldn't be surprised if another team gets in the fold either.

Yea everyone keeps talking about him switching but I also hear that he is recruiting Tunsil to UGA.

  • Just sounds very dangerous for UGA..

Having a kid that Bama covets, who is THAT eager to get on the UA campus, is a prereq to a commitment more times than not.

Not to mention, it is his last visit prior to committing.. Bama nice and fresh on his mind.

Regardless this one will not be over until December, assuming Bama still has open schollies.

I think right now its 50-50, but right now doesn't matter. It's way too early to worry about a commitment. I'll continue this talk in January. He may have commited and decommited 3 times by then. shrug

Very accurate statement. I do believe the coaching staff would stick him at the H back spot.
