Did Mizzou seriously just chant "SEC SEC SEC"?

  • Wow...at a basketball game? Really guys?

  • everyone wants to be a part of the indisputable top dog. cant beat em? join em. it is a huge honor to be accepted by the SEC and I understand their excitement

In football i can see it...but at a basketball game? Come on, man...The SEC is at best a middle-of-the-pac conference in basketball.

Top team in the land in both sports is from the SEC.

    Didn't you know?

  • Kentucky has it lucky in the SEC. No program has ever consistently gone hard at them for a sustainable period of time because the rest of the conference is so wrapped up in football.

I'm not a fan of it, but we chanted it tonight because there were a TON of Big 12 fans of all teams there tonight that have given Mizzou crap about it since the announcement. It was the fan's way of showing that it's something they wanted and got - which can't necessarily be said (yet) for the other teams.

  • I don't mind it. I didn't want them in the league at first to be perfectly honest, but if you're going to come, bring some swag with you.

I guess we all imagined Florida's back to back National Titles 5 years ago.

Maybe Mizzou can be that team. I wonder if Mike Anderson is regretting his decision to leave Mizzou now. Florida is consistently pretty good but your correct about the rest of the conference. I think with Anderson that Arky can do it and I'm hoping Bama will make that leap with Grant, BUT as long as Coach Cal is at UK they are going to dominate the SEC in basketball.

I never imagined that they would have fallen like they have though. Since then they have missed the tournament a couple of times (I think). I imagined as long as Donovan was there that they would be a perennial top ten team at worst. They aren't bad but not what they were before Donovan flirted with the Magic.

Cocah Anderson has to start recruiting Memphis for us. Thats the key for our B-ball program. Give him two more years to recruit his guys and we'll see what we got.

Cal will be dominate at UK..... Till Cal gets busted for something stupid again.

I honestly don't think that Cal has to cheat at UK to get the players he is getting but get what your saying. UK speaks for itself unlike UMass and Memphis did though. Time will tell.

yeah but at the end at Memphis, they were a brand name, and he still got caught. Can't ask a zebra to change it's stripes.

In the last 20 years, the SEC has 5 titles in basketball and only 2 of those are by UK.

    The ACC has 6.
    The PAC12 has 2.
    The B1G has 1.
    The BigEast has 4.
    The Big12 has 1.

In that time frame, the ACC and SEC are the only conferences with 3 different champions as well.

Nolan's recruitment of Memphis, Tulsa, and OK City was huge at Arky.

He was helped out with OK from having been coach at Tulsa and the fact that OU and OSU weren't stud programs at the time. Hopefully with Memphis falling off now that Cal is gone, we can start cherry picking their talent.

To bad Nolan went batshit crazy with the racism stuff. He had a lot of good years left in him and would have had Arky in contention a few more times at least.

OU and OSU aren't what they have been the past ten or more years either. Well they haven't been the past couple of years at least.

I think he was loosing it towards the end. I thought they should have let Pelphrey have one more year but I'm happy with Anderson.

Oh Anderson is a hell of a coach without a doubt. When he went on that run with UAB before he went to Mizzou I was hoping that he would have been Bama's next coach. I'm happy with Grant but Anderson is awesome as well. If he can recruit the areas you are talking about Arky will be right back up there and fairly quickly. Like you said, it may take another year or two but he'll have them back in the top 10 soon.

  • Arkansas should be fine. Mike Anderson plays a certain style that wins. He doesn't always need top recruits to win, look at Mizzou this year. The razorbacks have the second best basketball fan support in the SEC, Bud Walton is filled and loud when they win.
