Did the Big 10 play football this year?

Yep, the Big Ten went 15-5 in the first 20 meetings between the two conferences after their Rose Bowl agreement.

Yup, and considering the Valley Hunt Club that started the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl game were transplanted Easterners that wished to show off the mild Southern California weather and the beautiful city of Pasadena as an attractive vacation destination.

It started all about tourism, targeting their former home states on the east coast. The eastern teams dominated the bowl series in the beginning before the agreement was signed as a PAC vs BIG-10 match up.

  • you chose a time period when the B1G struggled to win a natty...if you look all the way back the B1G has done quite well...teams and conf's are cyclical...look at fsu, miami, nebraska, n.d, these were the true powers of college football during the 80's 90's and early 2000's, but have struggled lately...usc was down for awhile then back up, texas was up now down...

so yes, as of recently the SEC is the top dog (nobody argues this) but if you look up all time matchups between the B1G and SEC they are pretty even, Michigan in particular does very well against the SEC...

The B1G will be very good again, soon...look at um and osu recruiting classes last 2 yrs, not too shabby and both have very good coaches...

  • Okay yes your right, I got my decades mixed up, B1G 50's, Nebraska 80's

How bout next time instead of being an arrogant f-n prick, you try to correct somebody other than using your nasty as$ attitude.

Like you have never made a mistake right, how about when your wife divorced you.

  • Thanks a2brutus. People hate the Buckeyes just because it's a bandwagon thing. If the B1G has sucked so bad why is the winningest team in the nation been in the Big Ten since it's brith, next alabama, then OSU (Michigan, Alabama, OSU)

People can be so ignorant sometimes.

    Thanks bub.

  • I didn't think this thread would get any responses to be honest. I was shocked that no Big 10 players were drafted until the 20's. Always thought a lot of elite players came out of the conference. I guess the conference was lacking some last year. That's all.

Illinois - two 1st round picks Wisconsin- 1st round pick Iowa - 1st round pick

Can we count Notre Dame since everybody says they are slow and suck and belong in the B1G? They had two 1st round picks.

7 first round picks including slow ND for the crappy northern B1G.

Surprisingly No: Ohio State (Mike Adams failing his drug test cost him- moron), Michigan, Michigan State (Jerrell Worthy should have been a 1st IMO), or Nebraska

Yeah all of those picks were made after I made the post. I thought for sure the Iowa tackle would be gone by 10 or so. Never thought Illinois would have more draft picks than Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, or Nebraska in the first round.

Probably could have picked a better title. It's nothing worse than some of the threads you come up with.

Mississippi State, Boise St and ND all had more 1st round picks than Florida and Arkansas combined.

    Obvious troll.

Shocked he got this many responses.

FYI, posting that it is past someone's bedtime at 6am EST is pretty stupid though.

Wasn't a troll at all. The way the draft was going it was like the Big 10 didn't even play football. Every year since I've been alive the Big 10 has had a lot of elite players taken in the Top 20 picks of the draft. Was really shocked that none was picked this year.

What's the point? The SEC as a conference had 9 first rounders. Most were taken in the Top 20 picks. I was talking about the conference as a whole not specific teams. I just pointed out that I was surprised none of the teams I mentioned earlier had any players chosen.

You were expressing shock that Illinois had more picks than OSU, UM, etc.

I was simply pointing out the stupidity of that sentiment.
