South Bend (Ind.) Washington WR Gehrig Dieter finishes his high school career with one national record and six state records. He'll take official visits to SMU and Oregon.

  • A lot of teams are going to be kicking themselves for not offering this kid.

    TheJungles

  • Our WR's must block. The kid has the size and hands to be a perfect fit for our offensive scheme.

The only reason we wouldn't take him is if we are full up at his position, which is a significant possibility by December 9th.

There is a reason the Ducks want him!

Thanks for the season recap. Why is he not getting more/better offers?

It's honestly a mystery. There's guys better than Dieter, but Dieter could contribute anywhere. You would think he'd have several Big Ten and ACC offers, but he doesn't. He'll go to SMU and be a great player for them.

    it's very weird...
Steve, do you honestly know anything that's holding the offers from coming?

  • His stats are drastically overstated. The game in which he had the national record his coach was targeting him on basically every play in the 4th quarter while up 40+ points. Even the scouts that were at the game were tweeting that it was a bit much.

Also I have heard numerous times that there are questions about his attitude. No idea if that is accurate or not though.

does not bother me about throwing to him every play even up 30 jmo...

I was at that game. As it was happening, nobody knew what the heck was going on so we found it weird. We found out after the game they were chasing the record. Whether that's right or wrong, that's how it happened.

As far as offers go, I think coaches question how explosive Dieter is. What I see is a big strong kid that runs good routes and makes people miss. He's run 4.6 electronic. He was a stud at national 7-on-7 events against top-notch competition. Why places like Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Purdue, Connecticut haven't offered, I can't say.

He's a confident football player. He's a nice kid off the field. A lot of folks in society are intimidated by confidence, and when they see a person that has it, they call him cocky and arrogant.
