  • Drink hard liquor instead of beer.

    You're welcome.

Don't eat much during the week to make up for it

Don't drink girly drinks full of sugar

    Beer and whiskey IMO

    Run

I run and lift weights 6 days a week.

Love me some whiskey. I've heard it debated each way, but would it be better to drink less beer and have a whiskey or two, or is liquor bad?

I can tell you this, unless I get strong beer, it does nothing to me. I can destroy some light beer before catching a buzz.

    Marshall Nole

  • Drink Bourbon and water...

Agree for high gravity or dark beers. Light beer shouldn't matter

Doesn't a shot of liquor have about 100 calories?

    Yes

Calorie wise a shot is about the same as a beer.

  • Its not about going on a diet, they just fade. Have clean eating habits with excercise Mon-Fri and will have the weekends to drink etc.

That doesn't seem to work for me for weight LOSS. I hover around the same weight doing this. Want to lose 10lbs before my wedding.

I think I will just have a bourbon on the rocks (1 or 2) instead of beer from now on until my wedding.

Give me your age (or age range) and I can tell you exactly how to do it. You can drop 10 in two weeks easy (and safely) and stay on the sauce... I've done it countless times.

Calories are the same, or close enough, in a beer compared to a shot.

  • If you eat right you can drink what you want. It's not complicated

  • This. And don't mix them with mixers containing sugar. I recommend finlaggan single malt islay scotch with one ice cube. $17 per bottle

For example I drink almost everyday but I also drink water during the day and never soda. I also i do not eat any sweets at all. No cakes or candy. It's a fair trade

If I had to guess there is not the effort in the gym and maybe what you think is clean in your diet isnt cutting it. Might be a few adjustments can make a difference. Of course I dont know you or your habits and not attacking you just going off comment and what I normally see from people who say similar stuff

First up your cardio. If you go to the gym 6 days a week, run 5 days. Run farther and longer. 5 miles is good. Speed is not super important but you want to target the 45-50 min range. Keep the lifting, but concentrate on the low-weight/high rep variety.

Water. Hoover it all day long. Eat tuna and skinless chicken breasts. Basically go high protein - low carb.

Booze... I'm a bourbon drinker almost exclusively and I've tried to go with that but vodka sodas have yielded the best results. You want to stay as hydrated as possible at all times. Vodka is the cleanest and the soda helps to offset the dehydration factor of the alcohol. Stay away from beer.

I lift MWF. Mainly olympic style lifts. Squats, deadlift, bench, military presses. I have various other exercises scattered in there but those are the main focus.

I run T,W,Thr, Sunday. I can add another day in there.

Beer is most likely been my killer. I can flat out destroy beer during football season. I will lay off.

Cardio to burn fat stage is basically walking at like 3.5 on a 5 incline for 20+min and dont hold the machine. Running is more aerobic driven. Want to keep steady for longer duration. your lift are fine but those arent Oly lifts (Snatch, Cleans, Jerks) are more Oly lifts. Really just need a consistent level of steady cardio about 5 days a week for at least 20min. Walk for 10min before lifting, then 20 after. keep the pace up while doing lifts with less rest between reps. I dont bring a lot to the board but this is something I compete in and have some knowledge about by asking questions to more seasoned people I have got to know

    Beer is a killer.

Essentially, I was giving you the high-speed route to dropping weight. If you have more time, you can make tweaks to see what works best.

Seriously though... drink a lot of water. With that and upping cardio you can lose 5 lbs of water weight in about a week.

brem and Bama Boz - thanks for your input here. It is appreciated.

Drinking more water = less water weight because you pee it all out?

    Marshall Nole

  • More water, little less carbs....Longer steady cardio....New wife will think your made out of granite!!

Because your body will stop retaining as much water. Most times you won't feel thirsty at all but your body thinks you're dehydrated. Having a low-sodium intake helps as well.

    No worries!

Also to reiterate... Boz is giving you the smart and steady version. I'm giving you the panic-mode "I gotta fit into this suit in two weeks" speed drill. Mixing it up at the gym is good... Keeping your heart rate up is key.
