Cardio to burn fat stage is basically walking at like 3.5 on a 5 incline for 20+min and dont hold the machine. Running is more aerobic driven. Want to keep steady for longer duration. your lift are fine but those arent Oly lifts (Snatch, Cleans, Jerks) are more Oly lifts. Really just need a consistent level of steady cardio about 5 days a week for at least 20min. Walk for 10min before lifting, then 20 after. keep the pace up while doing lifts with less rest between reps. I dont bring a lot to the board but this is something I compete in and have some knowledge about by asking questions to more seasoned people I have got to know

so i saw one episode of the jersey shore, their exercise is walking on an incline. why dont you just sack up and start jogging? it gets your heartrate up more and is great for everything in your body except joints. if you cant run far in the beginning just do a little more every time and youll be up to 30 mins at 7.0 in no time.

Jogging is a terrible excerise for the body. There a ton of better exercises like walking on an incline that should be done before jogging.

Actually I think what boz is saying is that your body burns more fat when your heart rate is in a certain zone.

I did a workout like this 5 years ago and go into the best shape of my life, less than 10% bodyfat. I had a 4 day weight routine and did "low intensity" cardio where my heart rate only got up to a certain point. Did that 5 days a week. I was in great shape.

That being said, I found that type of cardio extremely boring. I just counted down the minutes until it was over.

Id really hope that your not calling me out. I would work circles around you either with weights and or aerobic activity. He asked about burning fat, not getting heart rate up real fast but again after your jackass comments I assume you dont know shit about.

glass, vodka, flavored soda water, ice water, cubes....

cant go wrong... 0 calories outside the vodka.... also great to get your chick in shape also.

    flavors vary

  • Like others have said ITT- 1) up your cardio. I actually do cardio first thing in the morning and before going to bed when I am trying to drop weight quick. 2) eat less carbs and try to eat complex carbs- for example brown rice instead of white, sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. 3) drink vodka instead of beer or dark liquor. I do shots of vodka so that I do not have the added calories and carbs that come along with mixers. 4) eat 4-5 SMALL meals a day.

I CANNOT do Vodka.... I got so sick off of it when I first started drinking I can't even handle the smell hardly.

  • To the OP, try a five day routine, MWF upper body, T TR lower body, and like most ITT said mix in some healthy cardio, hell play basketball if you like it. That plus eat right, lots of fruits, veggies, nuts(healthy oil from nuts boosts test levels), and plenty of protein. All this works well for me.

Edit: oh yeah about alcohol, uh I'd say if you follow the above you should be good to drink what you please as long as it isn't sugary mixed drinks or heavy beers.

Try light rum? The darker the liquor the more toxins it has. I try to keep to vodka when drinking but I would guess that light rum would work the same.

Yeah I forgot about this... Especially when you have a longer window to drop lbs. You want to change your metabolism. Once you get yourself to a certain metabolic zone you'll just start burning calories while sitting at your desk.

Is it? I am not a fan of rum so I rarely drink it. I do know that darker liquors contain substantially more toxins ( I believe it is the result of the aging process and flavors added?) and therefore cause worse hangovers.

That is usually the excuse that out of shape people use. All natural, just get tired of people like you with dumb comments

Good for you, great runs. Have you seen the builds of most the runners that you do?? Again, the no neck comment is just more ignorance that you know nothing about. I can see my neck pretty well in the pics, just cause I like to build muscle as opposed to your running does not matter. It was answering the question that Marshall put out there, not sure why you had to direct attacks towards me??

thanks for the stats, do I need to list the weights I lift, comps Ive won or even the runs ive done??

I didnt start the jabbing comments as you did towards me.

Yeah I'm wrong on that. Read your post too fast. I was thinking of the darker and flavored rums.

Any kind of rum and the next morning I feel like I have a railroad spike buried in my forehead. Prob just me though.

  • I'd imagine if you don't like walking on an incline on a treadmill you could go hiking? Seems like it would produce similar results and would be far less boring. I don't if you live in an area that provides good hiking or if the weather would be agreeable this time of the year though.

  • OP. Listen: there is only one way to lose weight. be in a calorie deficit. period. 3500 calories = 1 pound. you can increase exercise to up the rate you burn every day, or you can decrease consumption. decreasing consumption is easier.

spend a couple weeks monitoring your calories seriously. add them up. if you are staying the same weight, then this is your maintenance weight. Drop your calories by 500 per day for a pound a week weight loss. period. count them for a few weeks and you will get the hang of it. cutting out 500 a day is very easy once you start counting. just round every meal to nearest 50 or 100, don't be anal or you'll give up.

drinking beer counts as calories, work them into your total, its all the same. drink a 12-pack of Bud 55 or Miller 64 instead of a 12-pack of light beer (even ultra). Boom, thats your 500 calories.

Personally, I love Guinness. I drink a couple pints of guinness, then switch to Bud 55.

Its easy. Go to bodybuilding.com, forums, nutrition forum, and read the stickied post on calculating calories. it will give you some guidelines on guestimating your maintenance rate, how much protein and dietary fat you should eat, etc. Its simple you just have to do it. After a few weeks it becomes second nature and its not a pain in the butt to count at all.

source: I've gone from almost 270 to 180 in the last 15 months, will have a 6-pack in the next 5 pounds or so, no gimmicks, drink beer almost every day, can squat and dead over 2x bodyweight.
