because you can start right away at MD and maybe that is better for your development than sitting and waiting. You never know. Some kids get lost at the schools that get all the big names.
And That crap about being afraid of competition is BS in college. You go where you can excel and hopefully turn that into a pro career. Titles are great but only 2 teams get to play for the title a year and you have to go where you can show your skills on the field.

It's important to remember that Diggs' big pull towards Maryland besides his momma's cooking is that he becomes the 4th member of Good Counsel to join the Terps. He reunites with two of his friends, 4-star offensive lineman Mike Madaras and 4-star RB Wes Brown (who were previously Maryland's top 2 recruits before Diggs). He also joins his former QB Zach Dancel, who is now a converted safety in college. Dancel commited to New Mexico as a member of the 2011 class but after being redshirted, has decided to transfer to Maryland and follow his former coach and now Maryland offensive coordinator Mike Locksley. Locksley helped Randy Edsall in recruiting Diggs. Maryland will now be looking at 4 of their starters all coming from the same high school. THAT is why Diggs chose Maryland.
