The I-AA and Division II schools have always confused me one way or the other. You are correct about App State that year though. That team wasn't bad at all. Now they shouldn't have beaten Michigan in their house or anything, but I've seen worse losses for sure.

Saban was 20-16 in his first 3 years at Michigan State, and 29-18 in his first 4 years as an HC
Jimbo has more wins in only 3 years at FSU for he is 31-10
No brainer in terms of who had the better start to his career, its not even that close
Especially when you consider 9 of Saban's wins came at Toledo lol

Saban is old and close to being retired, I would take Jimbo over him right now cause any day could be Saban's last
