Nope, however I do believe in old houses making a bunch of crazy, creepy noises that will scare the shite out of you if you believe/or your mind can convince you in this sort of thing.

I really to believe it's all a mind trick. If you go into a situation scared, i.e. going to a supposed haunted house, etc., every last noise or movement is going to convince your mind that something abnormal is happening when it really is just playing up your initial fear.

I've had very strange experiences without fear as well, I was only stating that with fear comes a higher sensitivity towards more fear. Ever heard of sleep paralysis? It sucks and creates absolutely terrifying images, but is easily explained by science. Our minds are very powerful.

Ever heard of sleep paralysis though? My buddy suffers from it, and his descriptions of it sound down right terrifying. It's essentially waking up and regaining consciousness, but the rest of your body and mind remain in an REM like state. Meaning you can't voluntarily move, breathing is shallow (feels like choking) and you still experience dream like hallucinations such as figures in the room at the corners of your eyes, etc. Horrible.

Actually, I had an experience where I woke up and could hear things and felt like I had something pressing down on my chest... I couldn't move... couldn't make a noise... and then it suddenly broke loose and I shot up like a rocket. Never looked into sleep paralysis but that sounds like a rational explanation. The whole experience though felt like a ghost movie

Sounds the same. If you've ever heard of the "old hag" legend, it is believed that it originates from sleep paralysis and what you experienced. Many believe supposed "alien encounters" and "ghost experiences" originate from this.
This painting is also thought to be a visual description of the ailment. It's known as "The Nightmare"
I did a research paper on sleep paralysis and it's incredibly intriguing and terrifying at the same time.
