Do you love or hate your job?

  • Couldn't ever imagine going to work and hating it. Sometimes I think I'm lucky that I love mine so just trying to get a feeling of what the general consensus is out there. Some parts are way more stressful than you could ever imagine coming out of college, but the perks are nice.

  • Love is a strong word for a job/career. I like my job and like my company more. It's a great way to make a living.

I'll also add that unless you're self employed, loving your job has everything to do with the company you work for and not necessarily what function you provide.

Nice what do you do? Formal education can be a good base, but a lot of times it can be overrated. Theres a lot of life lessons you just have to experience on your own ya know. I have definitely learned a ton of things from people that have not gone to college. There experience alone has made them more knowledgeable in certain areas. It's not necessarily fair to label someone by their education.

Agreed. My job is very client driven. I have been lucky enough to have been on some very good clients. I have seen the other side of the fence as well. From what I've seen, the culture at a Company is a key driver as to whether or not you will enjoy it. I know its emphasized to college students a lot but I don't think they necessarily know how important it is and kind of gets thrown to the side since everyone kind of says the same thing.

  • JC and Noah are slacking.. I cant believe they havent been in this thread yet. Sure they have to deal with unruley customers but man, they get to follow football for a living. How lucky is that!

lol Just messing with you man.

Good luck to you guys as well. But I definitely have my doubts about whether Michigan will go far in the tourney. I'm expecting at least a sweet 16, but that is still pretty underwhelming considering how much talent we have.

Agreed, You guys have sick talent on the perimeter. Trey has had trouble in the clutch, but with his confidence you have to think at some point its just going to click. Michigan just needs to get stronger in the paint. Very respectable program though. You have to respect how Bielen(sp?) has built it. I think Michigan has a postive future in basketball, I just hope not in football cheers

  • Btw how big is hockey at Michigan. I remember watching all michigan hockey games as a kid. I was a HUGE fan. I think mainly because of their helmet. I was a big UMD Bulldogs fan, so seeing that absolutely sick, all-time greatest, goal by Michigan on the Gophers was part of me liking that program as well. Have you seen clips of that? SIckest goal I have ever seen, behind the net trick shot.

  • Watched every single college hockey game as a kid. This is the greatest goal at any level I have ever seen. Steve Debus on Minnesota was a pretty sick goalie too so it's pretty cool to see.

Hockey is really huge at Michigan. Besides football, I'd say it's the sport we take most seriously.

I'm a night shift loader for a distribution warehouse lol. My brother is ironically my manager lol its definitely a grunt work type of job but for not choosing a career that requires a lot of years in college it's keeping me very set.

  • Nice. That must be fun. I grew up a huge Bulldog fan so when I went to Wisconsin it was tough following there hockey team. People dont get into it as much as they do in Duluth. I got season tickets my freshman year and tried getting into it but I just couldnt. I ended up going to one game. Against UMD and just couldnt get into it. It was almost impossible rooting against the team you loved growing up. The game appropriately ended in a 2-2 tie. Michigan is big time in football but seems like it would have the small time hardcore local following for hockey. Just incredible sport to follow if your fans are into it.

Cool. My buddy went for accounting and actually did similar work coming out of school He loved it too and it progressed his career. I did grunt work at my job at the airport before. It was a lot of fun too but wasn't as promising as your path. I kind of do grunt accounting work now too.

My dad was an accountant. He absolutely loved working with numbers..i think thats where i got my interest of numbers and statistics from. he only got 2 years in college and couldn't finish, and he used to always talk to me about how much of a difference two more years woulda made for him

Disagree. Work in sports and you can love it.

  • I own a restaurant, so I'm in love. I don't like leaving it. I like being there 24/7... I love my wife and kid, but that place is my nirvana. I got some hotties working the bar and floor, too. Sorry, you're not getting pics. One is Columbian and the other is Polish behind the bar, but with thick accents, work hard, show up on time, very knowledgeable in beer and whiskey and have incredible personalities. True rock stars. My guys (no homo) are studs, too. I mean 2 of them could be models and they're strong as hell and take direction well. Women come there just to look at these two...Loyal to me to the bone and love what they do. I have great food, great clientele (I've cut off one person in 8 months) and great beers. One girl who works the floor models bikinis in NYC and another is a dancer there.

My boyz leave like this...biggrin btw, our outfits are black swoop tops and black yoga pants.

  • Love it, which is good as I have another 30 yrs prior to being retirement age. I hope to be active in my profession my entire life.

No job is perfect but they keep us sharp and motivated. It is unfortunate that many in my generation do not possess a hard work ethic and rest on their laurels for momma and poppa to support them.

The other thing that worries me are corporation requirements (educational) and the continued 6-9% inflation on education per year. Are many going to be paying Sally Mae 20 yrs for that job they love? It's not right.....

Nice to hear someone from your generation stepping to the plate. They call you guys Generation Y and for good reason. For a while at my place I really struggled to find people that take direction well.

    Thank you.

I respect and admire you too. You are doing what makes our country great. You took a chance and opened your own business.

We need more entrepreneurs in our society. You should be rewarded for being successful in small business. Keep it up.

I'm 37 years old and finally got my dream career. It's outdoors, it's dangerous, and it pays very well. I have a smile on my face even on Monday mornings driving in. Far different from my previous job which put me into a borderline, clinically depressed state of mind (life insurance sales). This is what I do now....

Thanks much. I also do a LOT of charity work out of my place. If somebody asks, I donate or run an event for any and all people. Always looking to give back to the community! :)
