Nebraska wasn't under any infractions were they? I could understand if they were playing it safe (like we are at USC keeping O'Neill), but if not, there's no reason to get 2-3 kids in the top 100 and compete since basketball does bring in revenue.

No we were not under any infractions. It was self-imposed idiocy.
Hearing people talk about K-State's surge was mindblowing. They were acting like they didn't want that success and would rather lose by 500 with walkons from rural America. You can get AAU kids and not get put on probabation, most programs manage to do it.

It's strange to see certain programs do better than others. I look at Baylor, Northwestern, and Minnesota and wonder... How are we not better than they are.
I would think if schools like Missouri, Kansas, K-State, and Colorado were doing well, why not Nebraska?

Missouri, Kansas, K-State, and Colorado all have much more instate talent. Boulder has the mountains and a certain type of culture that appeals to many 17 to 18 year old males. Missouri has two metro areas. Kansas and K-State have Kansas City. And all those programs have way more tradition in hoops.
Nebraska just didn't put any focus or money on basketball until we built the new arena. The building of it was rather fiercly contested. The university figured it better not put garbage on the court or there might be a large backlash to spending the money.
