Does Any PAC 12 Team

  • Play defense?

    Just wondering.

Edit. I love offense but 62-45?
    No defense is not good.

Sowing no time left, SC scores a td and the crowd goes wild. Down by 10. And go for 2. Pathetic. Embarrassing No D at all.

  • Hell no son, the Pac 12 hasn't played defense since blacks had to drink from different water fountains

  • Nope. Not this year. Oregon doesn't really need to though. Not until the MNC.

  • The reason the SEC keeps collecting crystals?

Because these goober fart teams with zippy offenses and not one shred of d keep getting thrown into the ring with them.

Alabama's gonna break that Thomas dude into a million pieces.

Kid weighs like a buck twenty.

If that Bama nose guard gets his hands on him, he's gonna corn-hole that booty.

Its obvious, they are media driven hype and nothing more

USCw will be back one day but them being national title contenders and preseason #1 was just hilarious

Oregon however would get destroyed by Bama, FSU, ND, LSU, UF and maybe somebody Im forgetting

They wouldn't not be able to dominate these defenses, and their defense would allow any of them except maybe UF to dominate their swiss cheese defense

And look at what happened to WVU, every year its the same hype and every year it comes crashing down all over ESPN's face

It's because people would rather watch two crummy defenses instead of two complete teams...

Normally, these west coast teams (right now Oregon) get exposed by USC. BUT, ever since simple Lane and his ancient father took over at SC, there aren't any real defenses on the West coast.

Oregon has only played two real defenses in the last 3 years, and it's really 1.5 since Auburn wasn't actually dominant, they just had Cam Newton. LSU last year handled the Ducks (So did Auburn's D), and I hope they slip up against Stanford or OSU or USC so we don't have to waste a national title game watching Bama ram Oregon in Miami.

exactly...and that's right about when Oregon started becoming good with their gimmicky offense

We need to scrap our defense and try something else next year. 3-4 maybe.

    Jesus.

Oregon is lights out offensively no doubt, but that was ridiculous. Mariota is the real deal.

  • By far, the fantasy world of better D in the south that you guys regurgitate is my favorite of all the many delusions here on tbb.

    Question :
Why do you guys feed the "dumb southerner" stereotype by pretending things like this are true, and then carrying on about it. Especially, when it is so easy for me or any other educated football fan to embarrass you with the real answer. It just makes you look stupid. Why reinforce the Gomer Pyle stereotype like that?

Why not just be real, call it like it is, and cut out all the make believe.

Well s**t last's year's game was a doozy with LSU not able to make it over mid-field till the 4th quarter. Do people really want to see that again?

Possibly. It would add more flexibility, but I don't think we have the pass rushing LBers to make it viable. Bailey would have to switch to safety as well. Perhaps move Pullard to the other ILB position along with Dawson.

The cover 2 is being picked apart by almost every team. The bend-but-don't-break defense is clearly broken. If we're going to suck, might as well take the time to install a 3-4.

We haven't recruited for the 3-4 and with another two years of restricted classes we can't now. This is still a young defensive line and we got schooled last night. Coach O better quit blustering and get back to teaching.

Its my understanding that USC went to smaller linebackers, Bailey, Pullard, etc., in a direct response to Oregon's offense. There's no Manaluga, Rivers, or Cushing in terms of size back there.

  • The most concerning stat, for USC's defense last night, wasn't the 62 pts.

It was Barner's 273 yards before contact. Thats just ridiculous.

Everything is concerning about the defense under Monte Kiffin. His D is meant for NFL players where they can spend more than twenty hours with players. Dumbing it down to fit the college game hasn't worked.

Well Burfict not being able to qualify and Teo going to ND had a lot to do with that as well.

add Jarvis Jones going back to Georgia too.

Yeah it was a perfect sh**storm of us losing every linebacker we were supposed to get.

    Burfict doesn't qualify
Jarvis Jones gets hurt and has to transfer
Frankie Telfort can't play football again
Manti Te'o asks for a sign from god and wants it to be SC but Charlie Weis calls.

That being said, the cover two isn't working. We have to be more aggressive. We might not be giving up the huge play, but our defense is on the field for more 80 yard drives and gets gassed while still giving up TD's.

I doubt you are going to come back and see this...

but the last two really "dynamic" offenses were the 2008 OU team (60 pts. a game) and the 2010 Oregon offense.

Magically, when playing real defenses in the championship, they couldn't even get to 20 points. Hmm...

Oregon is good, but the USC game only proved 2 things.
    1. You guys are really fast
    2. USC plays no defense, at all.
