Lol. That's funny. Look at the thread that says something about getting rid of one fanbase on the BB and FSU was the clear winner. It must suck to always sound like a fool Nolsey. How do you make it day to day without downing a bottle of xanax and pounding a fifth of whiskey and offing yourself? Thank baby Jesus I am not you.

    well that's because of FSUFSU

EDIT: just looked at that thread...did you really use that as proof?? I hope you are kidding

    New England Patriots. Enough said.

wow...this is honestly one of the dumbest posts ever...

first off, that's the NFL, so it has no relevance at all.

Just because I'm a nice guy, I'll explain to you why that is such a dumb post as if it were relevant anyway

    2001 - Patriots 7th best defense allowing 17 PPG
    2003 - Patriots #1 allowing 14.8 PPG
    2004 - Patriots #2 defense allowing 16.25 PPG

    weird...

  • Stanford has the #1 rated rush d in the country in both yardage and ypc. Only team in the nation holding teams to less than 2 yards per attempt.

at the moment he is clearly the worst homer on this board, I outed him a few weeks ago and he has been going batshit ever since

The dude never even tries to refute my claims, he just goes after me personally and fails miserably time and again

The thing about that is almost always a dominating D will trump a dominant O. Please Ducks, don't come after me on this pray, I will look up examples and prove it to you, but I don't feel like itpray

    Anyway...

Last year, LSU and Bama put up lots of points on every other team(like 40 on Oregon), except each other. Both offenses were very talented, but against each other, the defenses took control.

A great defense never gives up more than 30-35. Doesn't matter if they are playing the greatest offense of all time

I think recent history is certainly behind you there. However, I'd argue that most (if not all) of the examples of defense over offense have been games with at least a month for that defense to prepare. I think that tends to benefit the defense more so than the offense, but that's JMO.

I agree with you on this point big time. A D should never give up that much and still be considered elite.
What do you think NovaNoles? Noles is always talking elite D, so I am pretty sure that he will agree with
    you on this 100%. coffee

  • Fair enough...but that's college football.

And I think referencing more than a full recruiting cycle back is useless information other than a few things I.e. (recruiting, tradition, national buzz).

Well I think FSU's front 7 is elite, which is why I feel they could play with Bama. However, the D as a whole isn't quite "elite" although they will be soon, probably next year

The south must have gone back to segregated water fountains about 12 years ago then. Man, what a terrible step back for the south. LMAO about "southern defense".

The truth is since 2000, Pac12 teams have played 53 games vs Southern AQ teams (Including this year) ==================================================================================
PAC.....(32-21) 30.3 points per game vs the southern AQ's.
South...(21-32) 26.5 points per game vs PAC teams.

The Pac12 has averaged over 30 pts per game in the 53 games vs southern AQ's during the last dozen years. So any time you hear "they play like a southern defense", that justs means they are the 2nd best defense and they give up 4 more pts per game than a team from the best coast, the west coast.

Sorry folks, but no matter how many crystal balls you lick because of your WWF/Nascar-esque rigged BCS standings, the fact remains there are just better overall teams out west who play a combination of offense and defense. Your defenses look impressive because you play each other's inept offenses. If it wasn't true, the Pac12 wouldn't have won 60% of their games and score over 30 per game against southern AQ's since 2000.

Don't shoot the messenger. It just is what it is. It is truth.

Hey, which schools traditionally have the best defenses in the south, in other words, which ones can we say
    play like a Western Defense?

A lot of BUMP & run, and physical defenses out here in the west. Do you guys think it is just a schematic
advantage and better coaches, or is it just having better players in the west that allows them to dominate
the north and south like this for the past 12 years. I think it's probably of little bit of both.

I don't want you guys to think I was just picking on the south,
so here is the Pac's domination over the northern AQ Big Ten teams as well.

    --------2000-2012-----------
    =====================
    PAC 12....(39-28) 26.4 ppg
    Big Ten....(28-39) 24.6 ppg

Combine the (39-28) with the (32-21) record vs Southern AQ's,
and the Pac12 is (71-49) vs the North and South AQ's since 2000.

I would imagine most people are surprised to find out that West Coast offenses have torched
Southern AQ schools defenses for 30 pts per game on average for over a decade now,
and that's with more than 50 games played, not just a handful.

Especially the younger people that read this board, they probably really fall for that fictional stuff
people try to sell them on here about the south playing better defense than the west.
Haha, the great southern defense is really just a "boogie man" story.

This and I have said this all along Assasian

FSU's defense gets better and better each week and remember they lost 2 senior starters who were both all america candidates and shoe ins for all acc honors

And in that Clemson game we shut them down in the second and went on a 35-3 run in the final 16 mins

Also shut down all their skill guys for the most part

Oregon has not proven they can do such a thing

FSU's defense isn't elite yet, but its very good and close to becoming elite

Dammit, a real answer out of you is no fun. Haha
I think you guys will beat Florida. I think that a bad offense
vs a good defense will equal trouble for the Gaytors.

But rivalry games are always hard to call
